Bump-in day at Stockyard Gallery!

What a busy morning getting the Sarah Reark and Mary Henry exhibition ready to go. With all team members on hand and after a little fiddling, shifting and careful curating it all came together beautifully within just a few hours.

The doors open tomorrow at 11am, so come along and take a peek at this joyous show of colourful paintings and hand-painted ceramic bowls, vases and plates.

We look forward to officially celebrating the opening next Saturday 6 June at 2pm. All welcome — come along, meet the artists and celebrate their creativity.

A huge thank you to our wonderful installation team — Colin, Ray, Pete and Yianni — you’ve done it once again!

This June, we welcome Mary Henry and Sarah Reark to the gallery.

Mary’s hand-thrown porcelain works are inspired by coastal landscapes, changing light, texture and colour, with many pieces connected to Wilsons Promontory.

Sarah’s paintings explore nature, place, spirit and connection — drawing from time spent in landscapes, on water and in quiet natural spaces.

Opening event: Saturday 6 June, 2pm
All welcome.

Last chance to experience The Art of Two Christines before the exhibition closes on Monday 26th May

Two artists, aunt and niece sharing a family connection through two very different artistic styles — both deeply inspired by the beauty of nature, the sea and the Australian landscape.

Christine Watterson has been overwhelmed by the support and encouragement received throughout the exhibition, saying it has inspired her to continue creating even more intricate works in the future. While marine life remains her passion, she says one of the creatures she is most looking forward to drawing next is a John Dory !

Alongside her, Christine Paraman continues to paint with the philosophy “I love it, I’ll paint it” — capturing the colours, shapes and sense of place found in the Australian bush, coastline and natural world. Her vibrant works of Grevilleas, tall gums and lush landscapes reflect a lifelong love of painting and connection to nature.

You’ve still got time to experience The Art of Two Christines !

This early stipple drawing of a King Prawn by Christine Watterson reflects the patience, focus and dedication behind her intricate dot work.

“Sometimes it feels impossible in the early stages,” Christine says, “but then the work begins to evolve and come to life.”

With a busy life filled with work, music, diving and study, Christine describes the process of stippling as therapeutic — hours spent “dotting away” and becoming completely immersed in the artwork.

There’s still time to view The Art of Two Christines before the exhibition finishes on Monday 25th May.

Among the beautiful collection of works by Christine Paraman is this vibrant acrylic on canvas (detail) featuring rich red and purple Grevilleas set against towering gum trees. Filled with colour, texture and a deep love of the Australian bush, Christine’s work captures the warmth and beauty of native landscapes and flora she so enjoys painting.

For Christine Paraman, painting is about capturing the beauty and feeling of the natural world.

This stunning underwater work (detail) draws you beneath the surface into glowing turquoise water, where flowing seaweed and rich marine plant life create a peaceful and immersive scene. Filled with movement, colour and tranquility, the painting reflects Christine’s love of nature and the calming beauty found beneath the sea.
