This exhibition celebrates the beauty found in everyday objects, with our talented artists bringing flowers, fruit, treasured possessions and carefully arranged scenes to life through a variety of styles and mediums.

🎉🎟️ Raffle Winner Announced!

A big congratulations to Bjorg Leitch, our lucky raffle winner!

Bjorg was visiting a friend in Tuncurry all the way from Tasmania when she purchased her ticket. The winning artwork, generously donated by Jackie Williamson and created by renowned artist Kaz Green,.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the raffle and helped make it such a success. Your support helps Great Lakes Art Society continue to celebrate our art community.

🎨 Member Spotlight – Shelley Kurtz 🎨

We’re shining the spotlight on local artist, graphic designer, illustrator and photographer Shelley Kurtz.

Based in Hallidays Point, Shelley is the creative behind creative shell and Paint with Shell, where she brings together her love of design, photography, art and teaching.

Her creative journey began with after school art classes in Sydney, before studying Visual Communication Design at the University of Newcastle and eventually making the Mid Coast home.

Shelley is known for her bright, detailed bird artworks, created both digitally and in acrylic. Her love of Australian birds also inspired her self-published colouring journal Australian Beaks, featuring 25 native bird species.

Many of you may also know Shelley as the person behind the Forster Gallery social media pages, helping share the beautiful work, exhibitions and stories of our local artists.

Thank you for supporting local artists, local creatives and the people who help keep our creative community connected.

🎨 Soft Pastel Landscape Workshop with Caroline Reid 🎨

Join us at Forster Gallery on Sunday 28 June for an inspiring intermediate workshop with pastel and mixed media artist Caroline Reid.

“A Shady Spot — Shadows in Soft Pastel Landscapes” explores how light and shadow bring landscapes to life. Through demonstrations and guided exercises, you’ll learn how shadows create depth, structure, mood and atmosphere in your artwork. Participants will then apply these techniques to create a luminous summer landscape using soft pastels.

👩‍🎨 Caroline Reid is a contemporary landscape artist based in Canberra whose work is inspired by the dramatic Australian landscape, particularly the regions around Kosciuszko and Namadgi National Parks.

🎨 Watercolour Classes with Suzi Zglinicki at Forster Gallery

A beautiful new 5-week block of watercolour classes is starting this Friday, 5 June through to Friday 3 July 2026 at Forster Gallery in Lake Street, Forster.

Whether you’re looking to refine your technique or enjoy dedicated time to paint, there are two class options available each Friday:

🎨 Morning Masterclass (10am – 12pm)
For experienced artists working on their own projects. Suzi will provide guidance and feedback to help you lift your work to a high standard.

🎨 Afternoon Teaching Class (12.30pm – 2.30pm)
A structured session focusing on still life subjects such as glass, cloth, fruit and everyday household objects.

📌 Please note: Students are required to bring their own materials.

💰 Cost: $160 for the full 5-week block
(payment upfront required to secure your place).
No refunds are available for missed classes.
