From wall murals and canvas to face painting.... I am always up for anything arty, especially for the community. What a fun day! Thanks to Mary Island Fishing Club, Derby for organising and hosting this great event.

Almost done... 🎉

To the amazing team at Altham Contracting,
Santana, David and Ian Altham thank you so much for your incredible patience while I completed this artwork. Your understanding has meant more than you know.

This year has certainly tested me. From a twisted knee, surgery and recovery, to sicknesses, seasonal cyclone damages and cleanup, moving house, loss of a friend 🤍, work commitments, community projects, and the beautiful chaos of being a busy mum... there were times I wondered if we'd ever get back to some form of normality.

But one thing I've learnt is that even when life slows you down, it doesn't stop your purpose. Sometimes the journey takes a little longer, and that's okay. Every challenge has reminded me to be grateful, to keep showing up, and to trust that brighter days are ahead.

Now, I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and I couldn't be more excited to share the (almost) finished piece with you all.

If you're looking for a team you can count on for plumbing, gas, or civil works, I can't recommend Altham Contracting highly enough. Thank you for believing in me, supporting local artists, and giving me the time to create your custom piece 💙

This 7 metre wall showcases a Derby landscape with scenes that hold meaningful stories to the Altham family.

Stay tuned for final details and added content.

Starting the TAFE term teaching ceramics...
These unique pieces are some designs my students made, incorporating a small piece of wild Derby clay (dark grey) with a local theme of cracked mud like our vast marsh areas around the town.

The Derby clay holds its shape at 1100*C however melts into a lava if fired at 1260*C
We are taking advantage of the higher fireing and experimenting in the hope it melts nicely with the design created on stoneware clay.

Wow! What a fun afternoon adventure with loads of amazing outcomes from over 30 people!!. Thanks everyone for coming along and trying out this unconventional way to paint a canvas.

Every 4 minutes participants passed their canvas to the next and so forth, until they finally ended up with their original piece. The theme was obviously our beautiful Kimberley region. It worked so well and it was amazing to see the variety, talent and open minded participants tackle this fast paced session.

A decent bunch of kids also loved the play and freedom as well.

Great job everyone.

Massive thanks to Tourism WA for sponsorship and Shire of Derby/West Kimberley, Brooke Scott and Lateisha for also making this event possible. Kimberley Art and Photographic Prize

This latest eco dye and drawing art piece pays tribute to an amazing woman, Pat Lowe, who dedicated herself into making a difference in society and the environment.

"Let's have a cuppa tea and chat" was one of the very first things Pat Lowe said to me, some 14 years ago, when she invited me to illustrate one of her books, "Our friends the termites".

Over the years, she shared so many wonderful stories, and her lifelong commitment to making the world a better place was truly inspiring. Her tireless advocacy for the environment and for community was remarkable, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to causes that mattered.

A couple of years ago, I visited Pat to ask her permission to paint her portrait for the Archibald Prize. However, as life sometimes does, it got in the way, and I never finished the painting or submitted it. I have recently completed it and this art piece now pays tribute to this extraordinary and beautiful woman. I hope her passion, generosity, and unwavering commitment continue to inspire and touch future generations, just as they touched so many of us fortunate enough to have known her.

This piece and many more artworks from different artists, will be at Environs Kimberley art auction on the 25th July 2026.
