Regimental and Queen/King's Colours are ceremonial flags representing a military unit's heritage and loyalty.
• Queen/King's Colour: Symbolizes the unit's loyalty to the reigning monarch.
• Regimental Colour: Represents the unit's battle honours, history, and identity.
From 03 DEC 1973 until 03 DEC 2003 Both 5 RAR’s and 7 RAR’s original colours were used for ceremonial duties and held by the colour party while on parade.
On 03 DEC 2003 The Battalion was presented with a new set of Colours. These Colours differ from the original Colours as they represent the linked Battalion (5/7 RAR) rather than the original 5 RAR and 7 RAR colours.
They also have the Australian National Flag in place of the Union Jack on the old Queens Colours.
The Queen's and Regimental Colours of 5 RAR and 7 RAR, where the last in the Regiment with the 'Union Jack' Queens Colours.
Both sets of colours are laid up in the Garrison Chapel at Kapooka.
