Looking for something a bit different and like to make the most of art by wearing it!?

These bangles and rings by Tori Ann Donnelly are currently available at The Laneway Gallery and are made from paperbark, gold leaf and resin.

Tori Ann is an artist, curator and educator connected to Bundjalyng and Gumbaynggirr Country.

Nominated for the 2026 Aunty Grace Roberts awards in Arts & Culture, Donnelly’s mulit-disciplinary works blend traditional and contemporary practices while exploring her strong cultural ties, truth telling, healing and identity. Donnelly has made a significant contribution to the Gumbaynggirr region having curated exhibitions such as Ngarrannga Ngaanya Junaaygirr (hear me speak) for Yarrila Arts and Museum, coinciding with the nationally rejected voice to parliament in 2023. Donnelly will have her first solo exhibition ‘Balawun.ga’ at Yarrawarra Cultural Centre Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre in October 2026 followed by an artist residency at Bundanoo.

Were super chuffed to include these beautiful pieces in the current group exhibition, A Bad Bad Thing, showing til Sept 5th, gallery open hours Wednesday to Saturdays 10am–2pm.

We’re in our first of four weeks for the Bad, Bad Thing group exhibition and sales are good! Let’s keep it going til the end 🙌

To get another look – because it was so busy on opening night, or if you couldn’t make it, pop in between 10-2 Wednesday to Saturday for the duration of the exhibition til September 5.

Well that went well! Saturday night’s opening for A Bad, Bad Thing had such a great turn out, huge collection of 40 very different artists jam packed in to The Laneway Gallery and making my birthday feel extra special!

Ugh, John Van Der Kolk you nail it every time!!!

I wasn’t in the gallery when John dropped his piece off for A Bad, Bad Thing, and when I saw her for the first time it was only her front and I thought, wow this is beautifully crafted, though a little straight forwardly sweet for John.

Today I moved her onto the plinth and was pleasantly surprised by the hidden punch line behind her back and I fell in love with John Van Der Kolk’s work and wit all over again 😛👏🖤

See “The Siren” of silky oak and Huon pine, and many more fascinating pieces at our opening for A Bad, Bad Thing this Saturday 8 August from 6pm 💖🖤🖼️

This is a bit sweet 💛 Today, Perri Huggett is travelling all the way from Pearl Beach, NSW to personally deliver her painting, Sweethearts I, for A Bad, Bad Thing. The fact that artists are willing to travel across the state to be part of The Laneway Gallery is quite an awesome feeling 😌

Perri’s contemporary practice explores the complexities of womanhood, memory and belonging, creating symbolic figures that blur the line between human and animal. In Sweethearts I, crocodiles become powerful metaphors for resilience, survival and femininity, exploring the delicate tension between tenderness and brutality, and the quiet ways we learn to protect ourselves.

Looking forward to welcoming Perri to Coffs and sharing this work IRL with you all 🖤

As always, the submissions so far have been incredibly diverse in style, subject and approach, which is exactly what makes curating these exhibitions so much fun.

With the turnaround on this one being pretty tight, I’ve been working with a number of artists to help bring their vision to life, from managing their fine art prints to digging through my ever-growing collection of vintage and second-hand frames to find the perfect match.

I love being able to support artists beyond simply hanging their work. A thoughtful frame can completely transform a piece, and I’d much rather see the gallery filled with beautiful, character-filled framing that complements the artwork than have artists feeling pressured into expensive custom framing or settling for something that doesn’t do their work justice.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence, you’ve got just a few hours left. I’d love to see what you’ve been making ✨

Something deliciously dark is coming... 🖤

To celebrate the group exhibition opening of A Bad, Bad Thing (on my birthday!!) Saturday 8 August, The Laneway Gallery will transform into an intimate after-dark speakeasy for one night only 💃🌹✨

In collaboration with The Velvet Curtain Co guests will experience an exclusive preview of Secrets, Lies & Alibis among the art exhibition, where bold vocal performances unfold between the artworks in a moody, immersive setting.

Just 20 VIP 18+ tickets have been released. Entry includes a drink on arrival, with access granted via a secret password revealed to you on the day of the event 😝

You’re welcome to arrive with the public exhibition opening between 6pm and 7:45pm, then the gallery doors will shut for 15 minutes to transform into the speakeasy experience with all guests over 18 from 8pm.

It begins! dropped in today to grab her flyers and drop her work in 🙌 The gallery will be closed this Thursday 16th & Friday 17th while we get ready for the 3pm opening on Saturday 18th for “Outside the Box”. We’ll be going ahead rain, hail or shine, so see you then!
