From the archives.📂

Research done by Holden enthusiast, Mr. Green, on the purchase of a HQ Monaro between 1974 - 1975.

It cost $4,347 at the time, whereas these days a typical 4-door Monaro costs around $70,000 - $155,000.

What an investment!😮

Peter Brock — A Life Worth Remembering

26 February 1945 – 8 September 2006

There are some people who become more than just a name. They become part of a country's history and a part of its culture. In Australia, few people embody that more than Peter Brock.

Known affectionately as “Brocky,” “Peter Perfect” and “The King of the Mountain,” Peter Brock became one of Australia's greatest and most beloved racing drivers. But before he became a legend at Bathurst, he was simply a boy from Victoria who developed an extraordinary passion for cars and speed.

Born in Richmond, Victoria, in 1945, Brock grew up in a time when the Australian car was becoming a symbol of everyday Australian life. Holden itself would go on to become an enormous part of Australian culture, with the first locally manufactured Holden rolling off the production line in 1948. Brock's passion for cars eventually turned into something much bigger. He began racing and, over the years, established himself as one of the defining figures of Australian motor racing. His career became inseparable from Holden, Bathurst and the famous mountain that would ultimately give him his greatest nickname.

For many Australians, Brock wasn't simply a racing driver. He was the face of Australian motorsport. Even after twenty years since his passing, we still mourn the man we lost far too soon while celebrating the extraordinary life he lived.
We remember the boy who loved cars, the driver who conquered Bathurst, the man behind the helmet, the teammate, the competitor, the Holden legend and the Australian sporting icon. Motorsport Australia even created the Peter Brock Medal, awarded to a driver who demonstrates characteristics associated with Brock and his positive contribution to the wider community.

But perhaps his greatest achievement was something that can't be measured by statistics. He made an enormous number of Australians feel like they were part of something whenever he was behind the wheel, he cherished his fans and we adored him like no other. So, on the anniversary of his passing, we remember him not simply with sadness, but with gratitude.

R.I.P to the Australian legend and hero, Peter Brock 💐❤
