Yesterday we had the pleasure of catching up with Robyn Fernandez from RASN, the Regional Arts Service Network, over morning tea at the Stock Exchange Arcade.

RASN offers free, tailored support to artists and arts organisations across Queensland, and Robyn is their Visual Arts Advisor through Flying Arts Alliance. It was wonderful to welcome her into the Don Roderick Gallery and to introduce her to what we're doing here in Charters Towers.

From there, Robyn visited the Mike Carney Arts Centre, Charters Towers Pottery Club and Emu Apple Arts , and we were even lucky enough to have Graham from Wookatook at Pentland and their beautiful gallery out there join us. It was a lovely reminder of just how many creatives are quietly doing brilliant things in our region. Thank you Katie Jones, Artist and Illustrator for rounding up everyone so quickly.

If you're an artist or arts organisation in regional Queensland and you'd like to find out what RASN can offer you, Robyn's contact details and booking link are on their website. It's a free service and well worth a conversation.

And that's a wrap on the season for Don Roderick Gallery!

Today was our last opening day for 2026, and what a year it has been. A huge thank you to our wonderful members and volunteers who gave their time to keep the gallery open most days throughout the season. You are the reason this place works.

Thank you also to every local and visitor who walked through the door, spent time with the art, and supported our local artists by taking a piece of that art home with you. It means more than you know.

We're not done yet though. Keep an eye out for our Creative Christmas evening in late November. More details coming soon!

Thank you all for your support this year. See you in 2026.

🤍 Could You Spare a Day or Two in September?

September is our final month of the season, with the Don Roderick Gallery closing for the year on 4 October.

We're looking for a few more artists and Friends of the Gallery to help fill our September volunteer calendar. If you can spare a day or two, we'd love your help!

We're open 7 days a week, 9:30am–2:00pm, and every volunteer shift helps us keep the doors open and welcome visitors to our beautiful gallery.

Spend a day surrounded by local art, meet visitors from near and far, share the stories of our artists and enjoy being part of our wonderful gallery community. 🎨

If you can help in September, please send us a message. We'd love to hear from you!
