Pictured here is artist Chris Fussell alongside his portrait of the late Anne Von Bertouch OAM, one of the Hunter region’s most influential arts figures.
Anne founded Newcastle’s Von Bertouch Galleries in 1963 and spent decades championing artists, nurturing creative talent, and building a vibrant arts community throughout the Hunter. Her gallery became a cultural institution, launching and supporting the careers of countless artists.
Chris Fussell, a long-time Pokolbin artist and co-founder of Studio has dedicated more than 50 years to painting, drawing and sculpture. Known for his expressive portraiture and deep connection to the Hunter Valley, Chris continues to capture the people and places that shape our region.
You can see this portrait of Anne, along with many other works spanning Chris’s remarkable career, in The Art of Noticing at PACC Art Gallery until 21 November.
