The featured Artist of the Month, carried on from last year, begins 2026 with two award-winning artists who work very differently but no less expertly - for January it was the multi-talented Roger Hoe, followed this month by realist artist Jo Taylor.

Welcome to 2026! We're stepping into the 16th year of Artists of the Valley, and coming up for a decade of Gorman's Art Gallery offering artists and artisans a venue for their work. Members of Artists of the Valley proved they were up for the challenge of producing work in the odd size of 9" x 5" with 45 entries submitted for the special exhibition at Gorman's Art Gallery. The opening last night brought folks to view the works while enjoying tipples and nibbles in the warmth. A HUGE thank you to members who stepped up to set up, clean up, hang, administer, man the front table, donate items for the raffle, and serve our guests on the evening. To top off a great evening, several works are now sporting red dots as SOLD. Congratulations to our major sponsor, Peter Gorman, on winning the raffle, and to member Meagan Lonsdale for her work "It's Complicated' on winning the People's Choice Award. A fantastic effort by all!

A Members' Challenge - Stopping the clock to capture a moment in artwork the size of 9"x5" - the size of a cigar box lid as used in 1889 by Tom Roberts and friends in the initial 'Impressions' exhibition. All welcome to the opening!

New at the Gallery in Casterton is a monthly featured member's work. September's 'Artist of the Month' is Jenn White with a selection of her linocut prints in framed wall art, unframed and artist's books.

Congratulations to member Meagan Lonsdale for Best Painting in Show with 'Behind the Silk Screen' at the recent Coleraine Art and Photography Show. Beautiful, inventive and intriguing. Bravo!

Artists of the Valley members are thrilled to have Gorman's Art Gallery up and running again, with visitors calling in. while restoration and renovations took place, members, townsfolk and those further afield all felt the Gallery's absence. Please, make our day and pop in, have a browse and chat to the on-duty volunteer. Open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 11 am till 3 pm.
