Got a love for local history and a few hours to spare?

The Casino & District Historical Society Museum is looking for passionate volunteers to help bring our town's stories to life! From welcoming visitors, guide tours, preserving our local history and fundraising BBQ’s/raffles there is a rewarding role for everyone. No prior experience is required.

When we're open: Wednesday to Friday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

We recently held a farewell for Graeme Rooney as he leaves the Museum and Casino.

Over the past 18 years, Graeme has been an irreplaceable volunteer, helping with everything from door duty to cooking up a storm on the BBQ.

Thank you for your amazing service, Graeme! Wishing you and Susanne all the best in your next chapter.

This year we proudly celebrate 60 years since the Casino and District Historical Society was opened.

What began in 1965 through the dedication of Casino High School teachers Mr Maurice Ryan, Mr E Quinn and Mr Bill Woods, and the support of the local community at a public meeting chaired by Mayor Mr Richmond Manyweathers, has grown into an important part of preserving and sharing our district’s history.

In March 1966, the museum first opened to visitors in the old Domestic Science building at the former Casino High School, now Casino Public School. Six decades later, we continue to honour the people, places and stories that have shaped Casino and the surrounding district.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed, volunteered, visited and supported the Society over the past 60 years.

Join us on 11th and 12 September for our Free Open Days and wander through the museum to celebrate our history.

OUR MUSEUM STORY RECOGNISED IN NSW PARLIAMENT

We’re proud to share that the work of the Casino & District Historical Society has been entered into the official record of the NSW Parliament.

State Nationals Member for Clarence, Richie Williamson MP, recognised our museum’s commitment to preserving local history and sharing the stories of our community through a formal Written Community Recognition Statement.

This recognition reflects the dedication of our volunteers, members, and supporters who help keep the stories of Casino and the district alive for future generations.

Thank you, Richie, for acknowledging the importance of local museums and the people who care for our region’s heritage.

What a day!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our BBQ fundraiser at the Casino Truck Show on saturday 1 August.

We were blown away by the support, and the day far exceeded our expectations.
