Self funded and completely run by volunteers. Phase One officially opened on June 23 by Buzz Aldrin (American Astronaut). Phase Two opened by Andy Thomas (Australian born Astronaut September 2014. Phase Three opened in April 2016. by Apollo 17 astronaut Gene Cernan. Phase Four opened August 2021 which houses Australia’s only full size Lunar Module mock-up. This National Science Week, I'm excited to announce I will be heading back to Carnarvon in October 2026 to complete work on my latest manuscript, MOON OVER CARNARVON, thanks to funding from the Australian government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body 🙏

I'm SO excited for this book. It's a historical verse novel sharing the story of Carnarvon’s vital role in NASA’s 1960s moon program 🌕

I've been working on this book since 2023, after first learning of the story during a visit to Carnarvon for the WA Premier's Reading Challenge for Education WA🙏 This project has also been supported by the Minderoo Foundation's Artist Fund🙏

As part of the research, I have interviewed eight of the original staff of the Carnarvon Tracking Station, many of whom are in their 90s, to record their recollections. 🙏💪🧓

While in Carnarvon I'll be learning and experiencing and connecting with the land and people and community, alongside the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum Gwoonwardu Mia Aboriginal Heritage & Cultural Centre and Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery🤲🤲🤲

My aim is for MOON OVER CARNARVON to capture the resilience and creativity of the ordinary Australians who came together to achieve the audacious goal of getting humans to the moon.

I hope this story empowers our future generations to tackle other important, international challenges. If we can travel to the moon, we can tackle anything! 🙏⭐🌕💪

🚀 Celebrating National Science Week at the Carnarvon Space & Technology Museum! 🔭✨

A big thank you to the Shire of Carnarvon for its support in helping us welcome young people from across our community to the Carnarvon Space & Technology Museum as part of National Science Week.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation through science, while connecting them with Carnarvon’s incredible space history and celebrating one of our unique local assets.

Thank you also to our local schools for getting involved and, importantly, to our wonderful volunteers who continue to give their time, knowledge and passion to the Museum.

Starship Flight 14 is imminent and significant! 🚀 For the first time, SpaceX will attempt to catch the Starship with Mechazilla, following successful Super Heavy catches. This flight also coincides with Starlink V3's operational deployment, after Flight 13 successfully deployed 20 V3 satellites. V3 satellites offer significantly higher downlink capacity than previous versions. Flight 14 integrates previous technological advancements, aiming to catch Starship and deploy V3, moving Starship closer to becoming a fully reusable transportation system.

The paperwork is officially filed, and Starship Flight 14 is setting up to be one of the most ambitious rocket launches in human history.

According to SpaceX's latest FCC filing for communications frequencies at Starbase, Texas, the plan for Flight 14 isn't just to catch the Super Heavy booster again—it's to attempt the first-ever launch tower catch of the Starship upper stage.

Here is what makes Flight 14 so insane:

• Super Heavy returns to the launch site for a chopsticks catch

• Starship Upper Stage deploys operational Starlink V3 satellites before flying back to the pad for its own tower catch

• Zero Splashdowns—aiming to bring both stages safely back to the launch pad on the exact same mission

If SpaceX pulls off catching both a 70-meter booster and a 50-meter upper stage with the same launch tower arms, fully reusable spaceflight changes from a theory into daily reality.

SpaceX is facing challenges while trying to recover the Starship used in Flight 13 from the Indian Ocean.

The 52-meter vehicle splashed down after completing its latest test flight. SpaceX’s recovery team then moved in to secure the spacecraft and tow it toward port.

However, rough ocean conditions have made the operation difficult. The recovery team has been working around the clock, but bringing the massive vehicle safely back to shore remains a challenge.

Elon Musk has now acknowledged the situation. He said, “Unfortunately, ship recovery is not looking good right now.”

But the mission has still provided SpaceX with valuable information. According to Musk, the team managed to obtain close-up photos of critical areas of Starship’s heat shield and engines.

These images could help engineers study how the vehicle performed during the flight and identify areas that need improvement. The data will be used for future upgrades as SpaceX continues developing Starship.

So while recovering the vehicle may not go as planned, Flight 13 has still given SpaceX valuable real-world hardware data that could help make future Starship missions more reliable.
