Girringun Art Centre // Screenprinted Tees // NEW IN-STORE

Established in 2008, the Girringun Art Centre is home to multi-award winning artists and craftsmen.

Located in Cardwell, Queensland, Girringun Art Centre represents artists from nine Traditional Owner Groups: the Nywaigi, Gugu Badhan, Warrgamay, Warungnu, Bandjin, Girramay, Gulngay, Jirrbal and Djiru people.

The stories and environments of this ancient culture are being transformed daily into visual images and designs by weavers, painters, potters, textile artists, and makers of traditional objects.

These artists bring to life the unique cultural story and expression of the distinctive Aboriginal rainforest art traditions and culture of the Girringun region - available now at shop.northsite.org.au.

MEET AND GREET WITH THE BEERON SISTERS // Join us 12:30pm Friday 10 April for a relaxed lunchtime gathering with artists Toni Bullarh Beeron, Trisha Nungayin Beeron and Marley Binda Beeron, whose works are currently featured in 'Ung Jay Dijn Un (Weaving)'. This is a quiet, informal opportunity to spend time in the gallery, meet the artists, and sit alongside their work in a gentle and welcoming space. Rather than a formal talk, the Beeron Sisters will be guests for a casual meet and greet, allowing for organic conversation and connection. Bring your own lunch, take a moment to slow down, and experience the exhibition in a more personal way.

The Beeron Sisters are artists whose practices are grounded in ongoing connections to Country, community and the sharing of knowledge across generations. Working with Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre across painting, weaving, ceramics and sculpture, their works carry stories shaped through family and lived experience.

'Ung Jay Dijn Un (Weaving)' is on display at Umbrella until Sunday 19 April 2026. The exhibition is presented in partnership with Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre .

🎨 CALL OUT TO GIRRAMAY ARTISTS! 🖤💛❤️

We’re looking for a Girramay artist to create a T-shirt design for Kennedy School!

The students at Kennedy have named their classrooms after animals they learnt about during our NAIDOC event at Jumbun Community Oval, and we’d love for these animals to be incorporated into the design. 🐢🦘🐶🐦

The animals chosen by the students are:
• Freshwater Turtle
• Mahogany Glider
• Dingo
• Cassowary

✨ Important details:

AI-generated artwork will not be accepted.

The selected artwork will be collected for photographing and returned to the artist.

The chosen artwork will be subject to a licensing fee.

This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Girramay culture and creativity while collaborating with the next generation.

Please see the flyer for more details and share it on your social media platforms to help spread the word! 🙌
