The Capella Pioneer Village is now in recess for the ‘Wet Season’.
Thanks to all who have visited and supported the museum during 2025. We wish everybody a safe and Happy Christmas and New Year.

The museum will reopen in April 2026. Many, many thanks to our great team of volunteers who continue to welcome visitors, restore or refurbish donated treasurers and maintain buildings, ground and exhibits. Very well done All.

The Australian made, 1940s Sunshine reaper binder set up ready to make the wheat stalks into sheaves. Towed by a tractor and PTO driven, the reaper binder cuts the crop, in this case wheat, and forms it into sheaves tied together with twine. These sheaves would then been stood together to form stooks – a conical grouping to dry. You can see an example in the background.
Once dry, the sheaves would be put through a thresher to separate the grain from the straw. Alternatively, once dry enough in the stook, the sheaves would be used to make huge hay stacks. These would then be accessed when fodder was needed to put through a chaff cutter to feed stock.
