New exhibition at the Melbourne Tram Museum! Explore the remarkable cable tram system that shaped the way early Melbournians travelled across our city.

Opening at 11am on Saturday 9 May, the exhibition traces the story of Melbourne's first tram network, which began in 1885 and rapidly expanded through the growing metropolis.

Visit us on our final open day for this year! We will be open on Saturday 13 December, from 11am to 4pm, where our heritage trams are just waiting to be discovered!

It will also be your last chance to stock up on gifts from our museum shop - there are loads of items suitable for tram fans of all ages.

Dates for 2026 will be announced very soon.

The Melbourne Tram Museum remains closed while maintenance work continues. Unfortunately our reopening has been delayed due to a recently identified building issue.

Our tramway elves are tackling the problem and we hope that they can resolve it soon. The Museum will reopen once the remedial work has been completed.

Our heritage trams are in need of some TLC. The Melbourne Tram Museum will be closed during August to allow our tramway elves to work their magic, before our trams are able to go back on show.

Our next Open Day will be on Saturday 13 September 2025.
