A daring mission. A revolutionary invention. An extraordinary chapter in aviation history.

On 16 May 1943, Operation Chastise saw Lancaster crews take to the skies for the famous Dambusters Raid, using Barnes Wallis’ bouncing bomb.

You can view a bouncing bomb replica at our museum and explore the story behind one of WWII’s most remarkable missions.

Visit us daily, 10am–4pm.

Our biggest aircraft has an even bigger story.

The Avro Lancaster, affectionately known as the ‘Lanc’, became the most iconic and successful night bombers of the Second World War — delivering more than 608,000 tons of bombs across 156,000 sorties.

The Mark VII Lancaster in our collection was the final production version of this legendary aircraft, designed for tropical conditions and earmarked for an invasion of Japan, it ultimately never saw combat.

Discover it up close in one of our amazing Lancaster Tours — book yours online today!
