Sunday story....... Much of Cathy Rodwell Art 's work, is about connection, instinct and emotional presence. Letting Colours Speak uses intuitive painting and immersive colour to explore emotional wellbeing, connection, and the restorative potential of art.
Rather than relying on narrative or realism alone, Cathy Rodwell builds emotional meaning through atmosphere, symbolism, and sensory experience. The work invites viewers to feel before they intellectually interpret.
The jaguars radiate calmness, awareness, and quiet confidence. Their grounded presence creates a sense of emotional stability within an environment that is visually rich and overwhelming. In this way, the painting reflects a longing for calm and balance in contemporary life - offering viewers a moment of stillness, reflection, and psychological pause.
Deep greens, luminous blues, glowing yellows, and layered shadows create an almost dreamlike atmosphere that encourages emotional immersion rather than detached observation. The viewer becomes surrounded by colour, texture, and movement in a way that feels meditative and sensory.
This intuitive approach to painting is central to Rodwell’s practice. Rather than controlling every detail, the layered brushwork, shifting light, and fluid transitions between forms allow the painting to feel alive.
