Come celebrate the opening of Into the Wind

A collection of woven works inspired by the quiet magic of the Australian bush — drifting seeds, tangled vines, textured pods, and the beautiful patterns found in nature. Each piece is made from gathered natural fibres including leaves, sticks and vines, exploring movement, rhythm and the journey of seeds carried by the wind.

This collection is all about the magic of the bush. Think beautiful basketry and woven forms made from gathered natural fibres like vines, leaves, and sticks. Every piece is inspired by the clever ways plants send their seeds out into the world—whether they’re spinning, drifting, or dropping to the ground. Thank you to the for inviting us to come and teach — it was such a pleasure to spend the weekend with you 🌿

We explored basket weaving with dyed rattan cane and natural fibres, working through both round and oval shapes using templates created by the Lawson Men’s Shed. It was wonderful to see each basket slowly take form as everyone settled into the rhythm of weaving.

There were thoughtful questions, quiet moments of concentration, and plenty of shared learning as we tried new techniques.

Thanks also for the delicious homemade lunches and scrumptious morning teas, which made the whole weekend feel like a bit of luxury.

Grateful for a welcoming group who were open to learning and happy to experiment. A fun, creative couple of days doing good work with good people 🧺✨
