Hello everyone,

Please find attached a form from Pippa Morris, President of the Ballan RSL Sub-Branch. The Ballan RSL, in partnership with our Society, is working on upgrading the Blackwood War Memorial, and part of that work is making sure all the names that should be on the Memorial are included.

If you know someone with war service, warlike operational service or peacekeeping service since the end of World War 1, please fill in the attached form with their details. Only those who served during war time, warlike operations or peacekeeping operations are eligible for inclusion on the Memorial.

Completed forms go back to the Ballan RSL, not to us. You can email the form to [email protected], post it to Ballan RSL, PO Box 344, Ballan, Victoria, 3342, or drop it in the letter box beside the front door of the Ballan RSL Hall at 146 Inglis Street, Ballan.

Any questions about the Memorial project can go to Pippa directly on 0498 807 558 or [email protected].

Thanks

We have recent completed a massive amount of work at the historical society. The whole team have been at it repairing leaks, installing a new ceiling, repairing plaster work, patching and priming holes in the player and of course painting. We couldn’t have done it without the help of Mayor Steven Venditti-Taylor - Moorabool Shire Council who prior to his official position was a member and supporter and despite his extremely busy schedule still makes community and historical support a priority and was the master painter which now look amazing and bright in the kitchen and meeting room. Thanks to the whole crew for the hours of work and effort.

Thanks to all those that visited today! The morning was extremely wet so we were glad some still battled through and enjoyed not only the Stables and Museam but all the The Great Trentham Spudfest related activities in town.

Just had to visit our namesake in the Adelaide Hills as we end up with many misdirected enquiries meant for them. For those interested, apart from being in the hills , it is nothing like our home.. If your idea of paradise is having 5 supermarkets within 2 blocks and taking your life in your hands crossing the road , this is the place for you..Couldn't leave quick enough... I'm sure the people are nice , and it does have a quaint railway station..

Well , thats a wrap on another successfull Easter Sunday night Bingo event.
The prizes this year were a definite step up from previous years thanks in no small part to the following generous business's.
Pig and Whistle Hotel - East Trentham.
Cosmopolitan Hotel - Trentham.
Blackwood Hotel.
Blackwood General ( Coffee Roasters)
Blackwood Post Office Cafe.
Garden of St Erth ( Diggers Club) Blackwood.
GDTA - The Great Dividing Trail Association
We really appreciate your help guys.
Please support these businesses when you can as they have put their philanthropy where their mouth is - so to speak ..
Special thanks to local Garry Amy who donated one of his original paintings for the raffle - many tickets were sold for this.. Congratulations to Bree from Guildford as the lucky winner.
The Blackwood chapter of the Western Bulldogs supporter group donated a metre of firewood for auction . Cr John Keogh was the lucky bidder, who we all know paid over the odds for it , thanks mate..
A special mention to our members , family and friends who assisted with all the steps involved in holding such an event. Also , our Crown Reserves committee for use of the hall and the over 55s Social Club for use of the kitchen facilities.
We cannot forget the past work of the Hall family in staging this now staple event on the Blackwood calendar. As the saying goes , from little things , big things grow.. Your foresight will be your legacy.
Finally , thanks to our mayor Steve Venditti-Taylor for being the caller / MC for the night . Steve was attending our meetings and excursions before his current position so we appreciate his friendship as much as anything else. In considering he only had 2 minutes training beforehand he did a great job , a true natural.
I think he certainly has a future as a " gun for hire " at Senior Citizen Bingo nights around the state when his current job ends !!
I'm sure a dozen scones would get him over the line ladies..
