Meet J9 Stanton (Alice Springs) at BigCi Open Day, Sunday, 23 August 2026, 11.00-4.00.
J9 Stanton is a multidisciplinary artist based in Mparntwe Alice Springs, shaping recycled materials into three-dimensional wall art. Her recurring motifs draw on the strata and fossilized seabed of central Australia, tracing the dance between water and wildfire, and the forces that carve, erase, and reveal. Through this lens, she uncovers the art hidden within land and waterscapes. BigCi has offered J9 the chance to explore these themes in unfamiliar terrain. She will present new abstract works combining painting and mesh, layering studies of water with the etched textures of scribbly gums and the burnt gums of the Wollemi forest.

Meet Rhae Kendrigan (Victoria) at BigCi Open Day, Sunday, 23 August 2026, 11.00-4.00.
Rhae Kendrigan is a socially and environmentally engaged artist from regional Victoria. Rhae’s work explores the intersections between body and place, serving as a process for understanding systems awareness. Rhae’s performance practice is grounded in a deep connection to landscape via the methodology of Body Weather that develops a conscious relation to the state of change inside and outside the body.
For the Open Day, Rhae is developing a live site-specific installation and performance, informed by Body Weather methodology. It is the artist’s response to the body experience felt at this time, in this place.

Meet Rachel Wright (UK) at BigCi Open Day, Sunday, 23 August 2026, 11.00-4.00.
Rachel works predominantly with photographic processes. Her work explores themes of place, time, ecology and connection. During her residency she has been deeply inspired by remote off-track bush walks in Wollemi National Park and the Gardens of Stone, as well as her immediate surroundings at BigCi. Rachel has worked with found charcoal, cyanotype, wood ash and botanical toning to create a body of work that weaves physical elements of the land into the images, while exploring stories of fire damage and regeneration, the resilience of Australian flora, and this unique and awe-inspiring landscape.

Meet Allison Ksiazkiewicz (Canada/UK), at BigCi Open Day, Sunday, 23 August 2026, 11.00-4.00.
Allison works in printmaking and drawing-based media. She has recently completed a collaborative ceramics project with a workshop in Greece. She is energized by nature’s storytelling practices and how we know things about the natural world through technē (making and doing), practical knowledge and science. Inspired by unique ecologies such as hanging swamps – a rare type of wetland that forms on elevated outcrops along the sides of steep valleys and is crucial in the storage and release of water ¬– her work during the residency meditates on nature’s tacit knowledge systems in a climate increasingly challenged.
