German multidimensional artist and mentor Manuela Forster wrote, “During my BigCi residency, I experienced a rare form of creative freedom and deep immersion in the extraordinary landscape of the Blue Mountains. Coming from overseas, living surrounded by vast forests, exotic birds and the powerful stillness of the Australian bush became an important personal and artistic exploration, allowing me to experience how a rural environment can profoundly support clarity, wellbeing, intuitive channelling and expanded states of creativity. The residency offered not only inspiring natural surroundings, but also the freedom to fully experiment with my artistic process in an independent and self-directed way. I was especially grateful for the opportunity to curate my own exhibition and to work freely within the intimate film space, which allowed me to combine video, sound, spoken word, and immersive artistic expression in a highly personal format. As an artist who works intuitively and extensively with handwriting and visual mapping, the possibility to write directly on the walls throughout my process was unexpectedly liberating and deeply supportive to my creative development. The exchanges with fellow artists, as well as the generosity and openness of Rae and Yuri, created a warm and intellectually stimulating environment grounded in respect for both artistic individuality and the surrounding land.”
