Thanks to support from the Australian Government, the rejuvenation of the Museum building was completed in September 2025.

While quality education programs are being delivered again in the Andrew Steiner Education Centre, we are planning powerful new galleries designed to preserve survivor voices and foster empathy and reflection in every visitor.

You can help us bring these exhibitions to life.

Your gift will directly support the development and installation of new exhibitions, helping us open our doors again to welcome visitors.

The Adelaide Holocaust Museum's CEO and Director will step down from her role on 2 July 2026.

Over the past two years, Annetay Henderon-Sapir has led the Adelaide Holocaust Museum through a period of remarkable growth and transformation - overseeing the redevelopment of Fennescey House, strengthening the Museum’s foundations and expanding our capacity to deliver Holocaust education and inspire visitors to stand against antisemitism, racism, discrimination and hate.

We are deeply grateful for her leadership, vision and dedication and we thank her for the lasting contribution she has made to the Museum and our community.

Today, Jewish communities around the world are celebrating Shavuot, marking the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. It is a festival of joy and reflection, traditionally observed with special prayers and dairy foods.

Shavuot is also a reminder of the endurance of Jewish life and tradition across generations. This continuity is reflected in the lives of Holocaust survivors who, after liberation, rebuilt their lives in places such as South Australia, where many preserved their traditions and contributed profoundly to our community.

On 20 May 1940, the first prisoners arrived at what would become Auschwitz concentration camp. They were transferred from Sachsenhausen and used as prisoner functionaries as the camp was being established.

This marked an early stage in the development of a site that would later become the largest N**i camp complex.

Today, the site is preserved as Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.

This past year has marked a major new chapter for the Adelaide Holocaust Museum.

From returning to our fully-renovated museum building to launching the new Andrew Steiner Education Centre, we have continued expanding our ability to educate, preserve survivor testimony and reach more South Australians than ever before.

To date, we have recorded the stories of more than 460 South Australian Holocaust survivors, ensuring these experiences are recorded so they can educate future generations.

As we continue developing new gallery spaces within the museum, your support will help bring this vision to life.

Every donation helps us preserve history, challenge antisemitism and hatred, and inspire future generations through education.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
