Last Thursday, we were proud to host The Art of Human Rights Exhibition β an inspiring evening celebrating lived experience, advocacy and the power of art to drive change.
Our Founder and Executive Director, Freddie Brincat, opened the evening and introduced our wonderful MC, Teagan.
Teagan is an NDIS Support Worker with βBeyond. Making it happen!β β a program run by Community Bridging Services (CBS) Inc.. She is also a valued member of the B-Hart lived experience reference group. With lived experience of disability herself, and as the sibling of a sister with profound and multiple disabilities, Teagan brings authenticity, strength and compassion to everything she does. After her own journey through illness and connecting with CBS Inc. through Jobent, she now works in a role that truly reflects her passion for making a difference.
As MC, Teagan warmly welcomed guests and acknowledged our VIPs, including:
β’ Lorraine Finlay, Human Rights Commissioner
β’ Sallie Harrington-Downie, Director, Human Rights and Scrutiny
β’ Michaela Banks, B-HART Executive Manager
β’ Freddie Brincat, CBS Inc. Founder and Executive Director
We were honoured to hear powerful addresses from Lorraine Finlay, who spoke about the importance of protecting and promoting human rights for all Australians, and from Michaela Banks, who highlighted the impact of lived experience leadership through B-HART.
Following the formalities, guests enjoyed viewing the exhibition, participating in our Art Action, and supporting the cause through our raffle.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a meaningful evening. Human rights are not abstract concepts β they are lived, experienced and shared. Through art and community, we continue to amplify voices that deserve to be heard.
