British artist Siân BOWEN calls the works on display here “Collapsible Spaces: Urushi”—which, of course, in the context of our current exhibition, represents a wonderful concretization of abstraction!
On Tuesday, June 2 at 7 p.m., we will discuss these works in the exhibition; an online version is planned, with further details to follow in the reminder.

Last days of the show:
Ken Campbell - HEADLONG:HEADSTRONG
ending on October 30.
Here is one of his most intense works from 2000:
Ken Campbell: Pantheon.
A nigh perfect building, the Pantheon allows the sun in its declination to pass an ellipse of light through the oculus, the round hole in its domed roof; thereby describing an arc about the inside of the dome. This arc illumines and is changed by the local detail: the coffering and the architraves from which the gods have fled. Thus a thought as illumination from without may be moderated by that within, and the outer world so deduced. Which proposes the Pantheon as a model for the skull. The calf binding suggests a scalp, within which the book sometimes takes a notional stroll.
The skin of the building shows sets of receding four-sided figures: the coffering. In the book a grid of wooden squares is printed, at first to suggest Roman building and pavements; and later more wildly interpreted as the torch of attention swings repeatedly around the four corners of the page, and offering combinations of image, colour andform. Light from without finds the face in the skull. A portrait from within.

Der ernährende, romantische, ästhetische, erbauende, nutzbringende oder auf welche Art auch immer beglückende Aspekt von Pflanzen ist allgegenwärtig. Die Ausstellung beleuchtet in einer Auswahl internationaler zeitgenössischer Künstlerbücher ganz unterschiedliche Blickwinkel auf Pflanzen.
All diese Bücher sind in der Galerie in Wien ausgestellt oder auf www.druckundbuch.com durch Klicken auf jedes einzelne Buch anzusehen und zu erwerben

“Botanical Borderlands - Continuation” on display up to September 26 - with embroidered original textile books on individual significant plants by Katya Dimova, photography-based artist books and works by Regina Anzenberger, new works by Blow Up Press, original graphic books and portfolios by Uwe Klos, and a multi-layered poetic work by Till Verclas, among others. The nourishing, romantic, aesthetic, uplifting, beneficial, or otherwise joyful aspects of plants are omnipresent. The exhibition highlights very different perspectives on plants in a selection of international contemporary artist books.
