dankenüberschüssen 478,5 epochal unbrauchbare Erfindungen. Weltverbesserungsvorschläge wie der ausrollbare Zebrastreifen konkurrieren mit der historischen Knopflochsammlung, freundlich besonnt vom Schirm für Sonnenanbeter.

The Nonseum is a unique museum and popular tourist attraction in Herrnbaumgarten, a small town in the northeast of Austria, with 487,5 inventions we don’t need. It was established in 1994 by the Society for Utilization of Superfluous Ideas (SUSI) and has welcomed around 138 000 people ever since. Creating a lot of media interest, the Nonseum was featured in many newspapers, magazines, TV and radio shows in Austria and around the world. Description of the exhibition:
Among numerous authorities offering assistance, which we find ourselves bombarded by with good advice, this unique museum stands out due to its particularly honest character: It is of no use whatsoever to anybody - but conscientiously so and with loving care. Nonsense happens whenever something goes totally wrong yet does so with elegance. Attack - own goal (which is a goal at least...)! Of course, that has to be done expertly. The marvellous wisdom inherent in nonsensical inventions is highly provocative to our everyday life: „It does not function better that way but there is considerably more fun to it.“
