The Hofburg in Vienna was the residence of the Habsburgs in Vienna from the 13th century until 1918 (with interruptions). Since 1945, it has been the official residence of the Austrian Federal President. It houses the largest part of the Austrian National Library as well as various museums (including the Albertina) and the Federal Monuments Office. The irregular complex of buildings, spanning approximately seven centuries, covers an area of about 24 hectares, making it the largest non-religious building in Europe. Meanwhile, the complex also includes two sacred buildings: the Hofburgkapelle and the Augustinerkirche. Around 5,000 people live or work on the grounds of the Hofburg, which is frequented by around 20 million people a year together with Heldenplatz. The Hofburg is owned by the Republic of Austria and is administered by the Burghauptmannschaft.

The Vienna Karlskirche is a Roman Catholic church in Vienna's 4th district Wieden. The Rectorate Church hl. Karl Borromäus belongs to the city deanery 4/5 in the Vicariate Vienna City of the Archdiocese of Vienna. Built in the first half of the 18th century, the church is a listed building. It is located on the south side of Karlsplatz, which is close to the city center, and is one of the most important baroque churches north of the Alps and one of Vienna's landmarks.
