BEFORE THE IMAGE, THERE IS THE PROCESS.

A glimpse into Umberto Ciceri’s creative practice — where drawings, sketches and sequences reveal the thinking behind the finished work.

Ciceri’s research begins with observation. The human figure is studied through successive moments, broken down into fragments and sequences, before being reconstructed through the artist’s own visual language.

Drawing becomes a space for experimentation: a place where gestures are isolated, repeated and layered, and where the relationship between body, space and time gradually takes form.

These studies offer a rare look at the architecture behind Ciceri’s works. What appears immediate in the final image is the result of a process built through observation, intuition and continuous transformation.

From the first trace on paper to the finished work, the image is never simply reproduced. It is constructed, tested and allowed to evolve.

On 20 August 2026, Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery in Forte dei Marmi hosted the Dinner in Honour of the 2026 Artists of the Year, organised by AIMIG ETS.

An evening dedicated to art and its leading figures, during which Elisabetta Burschtein Rogai and Ynon Gal-On were honoured in an exceptional setting in the heart of Forte dei Marmi.

The day began in the afternoon with a visit to the Mitoraj Atelier in Pietrasanta, offering a unique opportunity to explore the creative world and artistic practice of the Master. The programme then continued at Oblong with the dinner and awards ceremony.

A special occasion bringing together art, culture and conviviality, while celebrating personalities whose artistic research continues to contribute to the contemporary art landscape.

Dal 4 al 27 settembre 2026, la Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery di Forte dei Marmi presenta “Omaggio a Giorgio Armani e le grandi opere MacroPop”, con il concept di mostra firmato da Rosi Fontana.

A un anno esatto dalla scomparsa di Giorgio Armani, la galleria celebra il grande stilista attraverso l’esposizione del ritratto dal vero realizzato nel 1981 da Luca Vernizzi.

Un’opera di straordinario valore storico: il Maestro Vernizzi incontrò Armani nel suo showroom di via Durini in un momento cruciale della sua ascesa, riuscendo a catturare l’essenza più riservata e aristocratica del fondatore della maison.

Il percorso espositivo si completa con le monumentali tele della serie “MACRO POP” di Luca Vernizzi. Attraverso la rappresentazione ingigantita di oggetti quotidiani, l’artista invita il pubblico a una riflessione profonda sulla società contemporanea e sul valore simbolico delle “cose” che abitano la nostra vita.

Vi invitiamo a scoprire questa mostra inedita, che unisce il ritratto d’autore alla ricerca contemporanea.

Inhabiting Space Through Art.

At our space in Forte dei Marmi, artworks, materials, and architecture enter into dialogue, creating a journey shaped by encounters, contrasts, and resonances.

Each work retains its own identity, yet it is through its relationship with its surroundings that new interpretations emerge. Forms, colours, and surfaces transform our perception of the space, while simultaneously being transformed by it.

The exhibition layout thus becomes an integral part of the experience: not simply an arrangement of artworks, but a geography of the gaze, to be explored without haste.

What happens when the world goes silent?

For Yinon Gal-On, water is more than a setting.
 It becomes a space suspended between breath and soul.
His models enter the water, leaving behind gravity, noise and control.

Bodies become weightless. Light changes. Movement slows down. And expressions reveal something deeper.

Through underwater photography, Gal-On captures vulnerability, memory, fear and emotion — feelings that often exist before they can become words.
The model is no longer simply posing for the camera.

She is floating between the visible and the invisible.

Stefano Bombardieri — The Weight of Life

What does it mean to carry weight?

In Stefano Bombardieri sculptural universe, the animal becomes more than a subject: it becomes a mirror of the human condition.

Suspended, restrained, monumental, the rhinoceros exists in a state of tension between strength and vulnerability, presence and fragility. A body conceived as powerful and almost invincible is suddenly removed from the ground, transformed into an image of uncertainty.
Here, weight is never merely physical.

It becomes memory, time, responsibility, experience — everything we carry with us, even when it cannot be seen.

Bombardieri turns scale and suspension into a psychological language. The monumentality of the animal draws us closer, while its condition quietly destabilises our perception of power.

Perhaps the heaviest things are those we cannot see.

Fulvio Bifarini’s artistic practice is a celebration of colour, gesture, and emotion. Working primarily with oil on canvas, his large-scale abstract compositions combine technical precision with instinctive energy, creating layered surfaces rich in light, depth, and movement.

For The Awakening of Origins at the I Trulli | La Masseria | La Natura , Bifarini’s vibrant visual language meets a powerful message of inclusion through the donation of two artworks to the charity project Le Orecchiette che Vorrei .

Based in Ostuni, the project supports children, teenagers, and adults on the autism spectrum by teaching them the traditional craft of handmade orecchiette. More than a workshop, it is a place where skills, independence, teamwork, and self-confidence are nurtured every day.

Just as every brushstroke contributes to the harmony of Bifarini’s paintings, every handmade orecchietta is unique and irreplaceable. Together, they remind us that diversity is not a difference to overcome, but a value to embrace—a vital element in creating something meaningful and building a shared future.

Art has the power to connect, inspire, and create lasting change.

IN ITINERE – The Quantum Man on the Journey
An inner journey along the Via Francigena.

In Gianfranco Meggiato work, matter opens to light. Solid and void, tension and movement, surface and inner energy become part of a sculptural language in constant transformation.

Set across the Horti Leonini, Palazzo Chigi Zondadari, the historic centre of San Quirico d’Orcia and the iconic Cipressini circle, the sculptures do not simply occupy the landscape: they alter our perception of it.

At the centre of the project, the monumental six-metre-high Germinazione rises like a seed in expansion—a symbol of consciousness, renewal and transformation.

Presented during the 1,150th anniversary of the Via Francigena, IN ITINERE brings together the ancient experience of pilgrimage and the contemporary vision of the Quantum Man: a human being defined by connections, encounters and possibilities.

Here, the journey is not only through space.

It is through matter, perception and the self.

In Le dimensioni dell’equilibrio, sculpture is never perceived from a single, fixed point of view.

The monumental works of Gustavo Vélez unfold across Pietrasanta and Marina di Pietrasanta, entering into a continuous dialogue with architecture, landscape, light and the movement of those who encounter them.

Created in Carrara marble, bronze and steel, the sculptures appear to challenge the physical nature of their materials. Solid volumes rise from unexpectedly slender bases, rotate around invisible axes and open themselves to the surrounding space through fluid lines, passages and internal voids.
Their apparent equilibrium is not static. It is generated through tension: between weight and lightness, geometry and organic form, permanence and transformation.

As visitors move around the works, each sculpture gradually reveals itself. New perspectives emerge, framing fragments of the historic centre, the Apuan Alps and the sea. The experience therefore develops through movement and duration, becoming-as Eike Schmidt observes-analogous to a musical composition or a dance choreography.

For Vélez, sculpture is not simply an object to contemplate, but a relational experience: a form that changes through space, perception and time.
