منذ أكثر من 1500 عاماً، جمعت لعبة البرجيس اللاعبين حول لوحها الفريد الذي كان على شكل صليب، وكانت تُلعب في الهند حيث يتسابق اللاعبون عبر أربع قطع ويستخدمون النرد أو أصداف الوَدَع لتحديد حركاتهم. وعلى الأرجح فإن اسم اللعبة مشتق من الكلمة الهندية التي تعني 25، وهو أعلى مجموع يُمكن أن يحققه اللاعب.

For more than 1,500 years, Pachisi has brought players together around a distinctive cross-shaped board.
Played in India, the game sees four players race their pieces using dice or cowrie shells to determine their moves. Its name most probably comes from the Hindi word for 25, the highest score a player could throw.
Pachisi became so beloved that Mughal emperor Akbar had a life-sized version built in his palace. Centuries later, its influence travelled even further, inspiring Ludo, a game still played by millions today.
