This week has me on a lovely adventure to Florida...Sarasota and then onto Naples. I am lucky to have been invited by some great friends to take a needlepoint...needle felting class at a shop in Naples. Another girls trip! So much fun! Great French restaurant tonight!

We completed our tour today in Cleveland, Ohio at Lake Erie! We rode 291.3 miles in 6 days! 5610 ft of climb and likely almost the same descent.... Such beautiful trails along the way .. and interesting historical towns. Great company to travel with Thank you to our guides Rob and Maria for a great trip...and our co-riders!

Today was our short ride. 42 miles. My legs say thank you...along with many other things that hurt. Tomorrow is our longest ride as we head towards Lake Erie. We land in Akron tomorrow...and finish in Cleveland on Friday! 60 miles tomorrow....ouch. not sure I can do that but we will see. Here's a few photos from the trail today.

My body was so tired all I did was sleep since yesterday...and eat of course. Cute hotel and town...Mount Vernon, Ohio. On to breakfast now..and start a new day! For anyone wondering where Becky is...I am on the road. Van is meeting me here tonight at the Cincinnati airport and we are starting a bike tour tomorrow morning at 730 am...sheesh so early. And a 50 mile day as well. Watch for photos along the way as we do a tour with It will be a little different than our Santana trips...we are looking forward to winding our way all the way to Cleveland. I just finished the abstract landscape collage class. I was happy with the outcome. We made a whole lot of papers of various sorts, coated everything with gloss medium. It was an interesting process of using an iron to glue the layers together. What do you think? They are abstracts so not intended to be anyplace realistic.

We had a lovely evening cruise with seeing all 5 of the cities from the water! So lovely. We learned a lot about the history of the area and how it only relatively recently became a touristy area in order to survive. Out tour guide was amazing...a local guy telling all the stories! The weather was lovely and every city had its own story!

Hiking in Cinque Terre is amazing and a little challenging. Today we hiked from Riomaggiore to Malpensa 600 stairs up and 600 stairs down across the mountain that separates the two towns. Beautiful...but quite steep. Some of the steps were as tall as my legs were long so it was a bit like rock climbing...not for the faint of heart for sure! We have a boat tour today that was postponed from 2 pm to a sunset cruise because of the weather. Enjoy a few pictures from

We just got off our third cruise through Netherlands, Belgium and a bit of Germany. Was an awesome place to ride bikes! We saw lots of beautiful green countryside and lovely towns and farmhouses with amazing gardens! I rode between 30 and 50 miles each day...so that was good news. We visited Ghent and Bruges...Amsterdam and several smaller cities...and Aachen, Germany. I only took a few photos on the phone...most on camera which are not downloaded yet. But enjoy the ones I can share!

Over 50 Traveling

My goal as a travel writer is to get people to take the trip now...rather than make a bucket list they never get to live. Trips that encourage activity at my age (I'm 60 years young) help to keep me young and healthy and allow me the time to see the environment, learn more about the people, and find great out of the way places. My writing is targeted to the 40-70 plus year olds who are ready to travel after living a busy life for many years.

A little bit about me and my blog site:

I travel with my significant other as a couple (Becky and Van), and produce travel stories featuring accommodations, activities, spa treatments, meals, etc. for mature couples traveling and seeking a deeper experience than the normal tourist. We are especially fond of artsy places, obscure findings unique to an area, and active activities like biking, hiking, walking tours, etc. We prefer smaller more intimate experiences and are happy with self-guided adventures.

World exploration is the goal...learning and experiencing other cultures...living life to the fullest and having fun adventures everyday! Through my stories I hope that you too will travel, live a fulfilling life, and share your adventures with me too!
