Nothing says sociable holiday gatherings like a bevy of punch cups! (We can dream—it’s all we have this year!) The Gamble House has about fifty punch cups in over a dozen patterns, a few of which are shown here. Early inventories indicate that they came from the Gamble family. They appear to range from throughout the 20th century, and most are of pressed glass. It’s the material culture of a party!

Our Story
The Gamble House in Pasadena, California, is an outstanding example of American Arts and Crafts style architecture. The house and furnishings were designed by architects Charles and Henry Greene in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble of the Procter & Gamble Company.
The house, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1978, is owned by the City of Pasadena and operated by the University of Southern California.
We are open for guided 1 hour tours Thursday & Friday – 11:30am – 3:00pm | Saturday & Sunday – 12:00pm – 3:00pm. Special tours are also available; see http://www.gamblehouse.org/tours/ The Bookstore, located next door, has its own hours: Mon. & Wed.: Closed | Tues.: 10:00am-2:00pm | Thurs.-Sun.: 10:00am-5:00pm

Spring weather in Pasadena is perfect, with comfortable, warm temperatures. But the summer is quite hot! How did they go about cooling the Gamble House during the summer months?
Just curious if there any existing photographs of the interior of the house just before it was donated? I seem to recall hearing that a good portion of the hall furniture was stored in the attic towards the end of the Gamble families tenure in the house. It probably wasn't very flattering for I have images of ugly lazy boy type furniture with old TV's with rabbit ears. But it still be interesting to see what it was like.
