We know that Michelangelo wrote grocery lists; now we have evidence that Leonardo wrote resumes. In 1482, at the age of 30, he wrote out a letter and a list of his capabilities and sent it off to Ludovico il Moro, Duke of Milan.

❤️Just in case no one ever said this to you:

“When I was 15, I spent a month working on an archeological dig. I was talking to one of the archeologists one day during our lunch break and he asked those kinds of ‘getting to know you,’ questions you ask young people: Do you play sports? What’s your favorite subject? And I told him, no I don’t play any sports. I do theater, I’m in choir, I play the violin and piano, I used to take art classes.
And he went WOW. That’s amazing! And I said, ‘
‘Oh no, but I’m not any good at ANY of them.”
And he said something then that I will never forget and which absolutely blew my mind because no one had ever said anything like it to me before: ‘ I don’t think being good at things is the point of doing them. I think you’ve got all these wonderful experiences with different skills, and that all teaches you things and makes you an interesting person, no matter how well you do them.’
And that honestly changed my life. Because I went from a failure, someone who hadn’t been talented enough at anything to excel, to someone who did things because I enjoyed them. I had been raised in such an achievement-oriented environment, so inundated with the myth of Talent, that I thought it was only worth doing things if you could ‘Win’ at them.”
Kurt Vonnegut

❤️”… project-based learning: if classrooms embraced the cyclic process artists use to create new work—beginning with an idea, finding a way to express that idea (something she refers to as a “representation”), and then presenting the finished product to an audience—more real learning can flourish.” ❤️❤️

Applying the creative and iterative processes of art can be applied to more academic subjects to make learning feel more relevant to students.

Seek-and-go-find, and past-and-present considerations about place, are both dominate and considerable themes in the design of AR Technology... But they are (still) not what - the ARt project - seeks to engage.

The latest AR release in the USA, on one of those 2 dominant themes:

Do NOT treat art as precious; ALWAYS believe you can create more art! Move on!
ARt comes THROUGH us, and once we have created it- it has its OWN life to live in the world!
Here is an example of the artist's response to activists' marking the People's Art-
IF, Art in the Public Square, is successful- it will always solicit an immediate response!
The worst that can happen, is that it would be ignored.

So happy to see this mural in the 13th restored after "artists" vandalized it last month. Here's a video showing how it was redone, and the slightly new changes that will be made into a print and sold to benefit the Restos du Coeur (food bank) strating this Wednesday: https://youtu.be/G0j9qIVfL6s

This truth is so obvious for those of us in the arts, lovers of art, and generally open-minded students/appreciators, aficionados of culture.

From teaching curious museumgoers to adding creativity to the scientific process, art is an essential component of the science done at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.

“You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby.
But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”
