“Give the Gift of Art 2023” is the new exhibit for holidays at the Studio 311, Van Landingham Gallery, Torpedo Factory Art Center, Alexandria, VA throughout December. With 20+ participating local artists, you will find plenty of unique small and large original art and artifacts for holiday gifts. I have six new pieces on display from my Landscape Colorfield series.
I arrived in New York yesterday afternoon for a weekend tour of the art scenes. My cousin and I went to The Met (open till 9 pm now) to see the Manet and Degas show, which was incredible. But there was a more hidden exhibition in the museum's basement called Vertigo of Color, featuring Matisse and Derain’s works and exploring the origins of Fauvism. I’ve always been interested in this short-lived period, greatly influencing later colorist artists. And yet, seeing Matisse and Derain’s works together made me realize how much they were influenced by post-impressionist works such as Van Gogh and Seurat. I highly recommend visiting The Met before the new year to all my artist friends while these incredible exhibits last.
It was an honor to receive The Art League Best in Show Award for my Orbs on Rocks painting selected and awarded by Chelsey Luster, jurors of the November Open Exhibit The Art League. My many thanks goes to the devoted staff of the Art League Gallery and all my friends and family who attended the reception to support me. Thank you! ~ Abol Bahadori

Driving from Oklahoma to Texas on route 40 we came across the most breathtaking scenery—the enormous and numerous wind turbans against the sunset. This is part of Firewheel Wind in Hansford County, located on the Texas-Oklahoma state border with 286 turbines, one of the largest wind farms in the US.
Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser made a great proclamation announcing October 24, 2022 as the Day of Remembrance for the Azerbaijani poet and writer Huseyn Javid on his 140th anniversary and unveiling of his monument in Georgetown, District of Columbia. We, Azerbaijani residents of DC and Greater Washington are as proud of our mayor as we are of our humanist writer Huseyn Javid.

The Sheddings of Veils scene form Sevil Opera by Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov and writer Jafar Jabbarli. So timely to share this movie version almost 70 years after the first performance of the opera on stage, as women’s fight for Liberty and Equality is still going on globally. The women of Iran including more Azerbaijani women than their sisters in the north, particularly need all our moral support.
