An update on the Hollywood Sound Museum fundraising effort:

Unfortunately, the GoFundMe campaign had to be canceled due to a technicality. If you contributed, your donation will be automatically refunded.

That said, the need has not gone away. We are still working to meet ongoing storage costs as we preserve and protect the collections entrusted to the Museum.

At this year’s Oscars, the presentation of the Best Sound award included a few disparaging jokes about the craft of sound.

Those of us who work in the field are used to that. The craft of sound has often been misunderstood — even though it’s one of the most creative and essential parts of filmmaking.

From iconic effects to immersive sound design, sound is what gives movies their atmosphere, emotion, and reality.
