The NRCMA is honored to announce the donation of a fully-restored, operational Ottaway Locomotive set from Dick Chance of Chance Rides, LLC.

The steam-powered Ottaway would eventually inspire the company to create their own, miniature train: the C.P. Huntington.

Donation is part of a legacy of Chance family’s history with miniature locomotives.

On this day in 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall as a CAT5 storm and became one of the deadliest and costliest natural disasters to ever strike the United States.

Nearby, Six Flags New Orleans suffered catastrophic wind and water damage. It would never reopen.

This sign was recovered from the park site and has been mounted at the exact same height it was in the park, to illustrate just how high the water was. It is one of the museum's most poignant artifacts.
