IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: DECEMBER 5TH***. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT ALL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE WORKING TODAY (ALMOST 100!) AND WE ARE GOING TO OPEN AT THE REGULAR TIME TODAY AT 12:30!!!!

We understand that many of you may have made other plans. If you're unable to make your assigned time, but can come later, please know that we will do our very best to get you in with another group. Your patience is greatly appreciated this day!!

Candle Tea will unfortunately be closed on Friday, Dec. 5th for School Tours and Regular Tours due to inclement weather. An email will be sent to those with online reservations with the refund information. Please note that all reservations are sold out for the remainder of Tea so we're unable to move you to another date or time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Please note that Candle Tea's policy is that we follow the WSFC School decision for closures. Old Salem is also closed tomorrow as well.

We loved seeing all of your faces yesterday at the 96th Anniversary of Candle Tea! We are monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow. Please note that we follow the WSFC school district's closure procedure in the event of bad weather. If Old Salem is closed to weather, we also will be closed. An announcement will be made this afternoon as to the refund policy in the event of a cancellation on social media, at CandleTea.org, and will be emailed to all who purchased tickets online. If numerous emails are sent to us with questions, we will try our best to answer them in a timely manner. Thank you for your patience as we deal with Mother Nature!

We've added another New Volunteer Orientation Date! If you couldn't attend one of the other training sessions and still want to volunteer at this year's Tea, please join us on Sunday, November 9th at the Single Brother's House from 2-4. Find out which role is best for you! If you can't make it that day, come to Home Moravian Church on SUnday, November 16th at noon for mini-training sessions! We can sign you up for a shift (or two!) on both days!

Did you know there are around 700 volunteer spots to fill during Candle Tea? From working in the costume room, checking in people at the front door, passing out leaflets in the Saal, working as a host/hostess, trimming candles in the candle room, giving out coffee or sugar cake or taking guests on a tour through the Putz and many more roles! If you've attended Candle Tea and always wanted to be a part of it, you can volunteer to work at this year's Tea! Shifts are generally 3 hours and we provide costumes and training. Come this Sunday, September 28th to the Single Brother's House in Old Salem from 2-4 for a New Volunteer Orientation! We'll go through the roles in each of the rooms to see which one suits you best! You attend Candle Tea and love it... Have you ever wanted to volunteer at Candle Tea? Now's your chance! Candle Tea is run entirely on volunteers--around 700 slots to fill!!!
We are hosting two New Volunteer Orientations. Join us on either Sunday, August 24th or Sunday, September 28th from 2-4 in the Single Brothers House. We'll take you on a tour inside going through each room describing the position for each area. We'll go over costuming, how to sign up and so much more. Come either date to see which role you want to do!

Mark your calendars! Tickets for this year's Candle Tea will be available to the public on Monday, September 8th! Dates for Candle Tea: Opening Day is Wednesday, December 3rd! It will run 12/3-12/6, then back on 12/11-13 for regular tours. School tours are 12/3 through 12/5, then 12/10-12/12!!! The Scout Tea date is Saturday, 12/13. Stay tuned for additional information and links for your orders.

Candle Tea, which begins this week in the historic Single Brothers House, is already almost completely for online reservations. HOWEVER: Space is now available to EVERYONE in the Saturday morning abbreviated versions of Candle Tea. This version has many benefits: Visitors will enter from the rear of the SBH, which is closer to public parking, and tour the Candle Room, Historic Kitchen, Salem Putz and Nativity Scene. Cookies, more appealing to children, will be served in the kitchen. The cost is only $3.50 per person. The shorter timeframe with less time standing may be easier for some older folks. To take advantage of this opportunity, select the “Scout Tea” category on the reservations page. For more information and reservation links, go to CandleTea.org.
