Well, we've had turkeys visit the gift shop before, and there was once a porcupine at the door ringing the bell. But this is our first visit from a horse, our very own Penny. She didnt find anything she liked, but she didnt break anything, either!
No puzzles were harmed in the making of this photo.

Hello, friends,
We have a delivery problem with the butterflies and now won't have any until June 26 . There should be LOADS of butterflies for the whole July 4 weekend.
Right now, with no butterflies, you can visit at half price. Or wait til the air is full of butterflies again around the 26th.
We were going to have our usual free admission for fathers on Father's Day, but due to the delivery issue, visitors might want to wait til the end of June to visit instead. We truly regret this mishap.

To all of our fans and friends,

We wanted to let you know that the Popp Butterfly Conservatory in Oneonta has now reopened.
Due to having been closed for almost 2 years, (we did manage to open for 8 weeks last fall) we are still recovering. We lost a lot of our plants and have replanted most of the exhibit. Because we are a little "sparse," but need to reopen,
we are offering a deal this holiday weekend.

Everyone who comes from Saturday to Monday will receive a free gift certificate to return anytime during the summer.

This year, our butterflies will be from East Africa and Southeast Asia. They are shipped from butterfly farms in Kenya and the Philippines.

Prices are :
Ages 12 to 64. $15
Ages 11 and under. $11
Age 65 and up. $12
College Student with ID. $11
Age 18 months and under. Free

For those who prefer to wait until things are more "filled in," we hope you will be able to visit us this summer! Our hours are 10 to 5, seven days a week until the fall, when the hours will be shorter.

Thanks so much for your support.😀

PLEASE ASSIST US IN GETTING THE NEWS OUT THERE THAT WE HAVE REOPENED BY SHARING THIS MESSAGE WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT WE ARE HERE!!! THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.😀😀😀

Hello, Friends!!
I wanted to let everyone know that we have reopened. The hours for now are 7 days a week from 11 to 5. As the days get shorter, the hours will change. Prices are still the same, i.e. $14 for adults, and $10 for seniors and children 11 and under. The butterflies will only be here until mid November.

We have made a few changes. The large birds will not be here for a while, and it will not be possible to touch the animals. Sorry for this change, but with Covid we thought it best, and it may be best for the animals as well.

For now we are requiring masks.

We hope you can make it in to see us this season!

Please be kind enough to share this as Facebook will not send it out to all of our friends.
Thanks so much.

The decline in total occupied forest may not equate to an overall loss in butterfly numbers, but scientists are still concerned that their populations are suffering.

PRETTY IN PINK. Southeast Asia's orchid mantis (Hymenopus coronatus) is an uncommon insect that mimics a flower of some sort - though not necessarily an orchid per se. It has long been assumed that this morphological disguise serves as camouflage to elude predators (i.e. cryptic mimicry). More recent evidence suggests that its deceptive appearance primarily functions to attract prey - a strategy referred to as aggressive mimicry.

Well yesterday the 3 turkeys decided to visit the gift shop, scaring the visitors and repeatedly setting off the bell.
Here they are, The 3 Musketeers! They are not at all aggressive, but visitors were intimidated by their size. They just wanted to see what goes on here.

Don't forget the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tournament which benefits the Butterfly Conservatory. It's this Saturday starting at 6 pm. You can play online or at Serenity Hobbies on Main St in Oneonta. The tournament is open to players all over the world.

We would like to thank Jo Aaron for making this possible, and his company Big Shark Gaming.
Jo came to the exhibit today and made friends with Figgy.☺

We know a lot of you used to play Mario Karts!!😉
Why not sign up and give it a try ? No one's gonna know you were the first one out!😊

We have such a great community of friends and we feel so lucky about that.

Here's another Mothers Day reminder. No need for words.
