Also on East 6th Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue A, we spotted the notable former Mezeritch Congregation synagogue. There was still a small congregation there maybe 10 years ago, but as far as I know it's strictly residential now. I did attend a holiday service once when Rabbi Ackerman was there. Tbc

Our next stop in the Lower East Side/East Village was this former shul on East 6th. Once the Proskurover Congregation, it's now residences. Once years ago I visited inside amd someone showed me blueprints of the shul that they somehow found and preserved!

The details of this former synagogue have long fascinated me. Parts of the Jewish star window were removed so it resembles a camera lens. BTW the summer of 1983, I worked at the engineering firm where my dad worked, and one of the architectural companies they partnered with was Roth, as in Emery Roth, who designed this shul. Tbc
