Honu Glass is all things beautiful made from art glass. jewelry, plates, bowls, coasters, night lights, candle screens and more. Working with glass is creative, exciting, and surprising. Things do not always come out of the kiln as I was expecting because of the physics and chemistry of the glass. Tip of the hat to physics mentor Michael Grote,
I'm a physician on sabbatical, doing a few more cr

eative things for my soul, although I must say caring for patients is a real honor and privilege and the art of medicine requires a different kind of creativity. So, I'm embarking on this adventure, fusing glass, my creativity and favorite things and hoping to make something beautiful for others to enjoy. Etsy will be up and running in two weeks, and a formal website is coming.. You can reach me at the email below and please leave comments, questions and a "like" or two here on fb. So, what is a "honu" and what does it have to do with glass? Honu is Hawaiian for sea turtle and stands for luck, long life and peace. A little like the animation of "aloha," I think. I love to be under the water and coming up on one of these beauties is a "bucket list" experience for me. So, look for a turtle or two in the glass, along with other friends from the sea. Other themes of my glass are Art Nouveau and other vintage images, bright colors, scenes from nature, and of course, a little bling here and there. Email for this site is [email protected]. Webpage coming soon!

Last project out of the kiln. Mosaic of irid scrap on black with clear "frit." The hardest part was fitting the pieces together! Fired twice--once to fuse and once to slump into the plate mold.

Latest project. Black base, mosaic irid glass with clear frit “grout.”
Two firings-fuse and slump into plate mold. Most time consuming was cutting pieces to fit!

We have moved and struggled to get my studio set up due to COVID-19 and decluttering the space. Finally, we have an electrician coming to fire up the kilns. I will also be selling handmade polymer clay jewelry.
I'm so eager to get my things unpacked and listed on honuartglass.com!

Hey!! Recent life events have curtailed my glass time. Hopefully after Hurricane Florence, I can make it out to the studio again. Please check back.

Hey, I am not making glass at present, but will be back in late September. Looking forward to getting started again in the fall.
