This spectacular painting gives an aerial view of trade in action. As villagers return home from a hard day of labouring, the setting sun beams on the river and creates a magical moment, as if the river that brings life is itself made of gold. There is a sense of intimacy evoked by the clusters of fishing boats and yet we know we are spectators of this scene, merely peeping between the willows from a distance.

As the virus situation in Hong Kong settles down, people are going out again. Once again I can feel the cracks of sunlight in between the buildings, the warm breeze flowing down the roads and the wetness from the heavy rains that are flooding the streets.

I get to experience the once again familiar views of magnificent sunsets over the skyline and glowing evenings. Each day is concluded with the magical twilight that ensue. Each day a new day for the city.

Another cooling piece to ease your frustration from the Hong Kong heat. Although Autumn has officially begun (立秋) for more than two weeks and the end of Summer signalled by 處暑 this week, the air is still dense with humidity and the breezes nowhere to be felt.

Here, the cool pastel colours evoke a still and calm winter scene, as if this painting was from a page taken from a fairytale. Clean blue skies above and icy paths lined with frozen forage.
