Million years old egg?

This is an egg of Potter Wasp. I think most of you would love this wasp to be around you, you know why? They feed their babies with spiders and other creepy things (please don't call them creepy, they cute!).

But! That doesn't mean you can keep them. Potter wasps have the potential to deliver painful stings, but are not aggressive and rarely attack humans.

and did you know all locusts are grasshoppers, but not all grasshoppers are locusts.

One easy way to differentiate locusts from grasshoppers is their wings. Locusts wings are bigger than their bodies because they travel long distances. On the other hand grasshoppers are just hoppers (because their wings are smaller).

Fun fact! Locusts change their color and behavior when in swarms.

So much excited to have discovered many things about pythons at The Green Planet Dubai. 💚

Here, meet this little cousin (another specie) of pythons, ball python. Not venomous but it can definitely hurt you when hangry (angry + hungry). That’s why only *experts* can hold them for you. 😎

Bigger cousins of Pythons can eat larger animals not by venom but constriction. Research says, constriction is squeezing for cutting off of circulatory system or blood from brain and not crushing of bones though as we see it in movies. 😅

Shout out to the great team for training and handling these animals. 🙌🏼

Not eww but aww!

Did you know these slimy little ones too have organs like we do; lungs, kidney, liver stomach, eyes and even heart? They can live up to 10 to 15 years. Their shells are made up of same molecules from which our kidney stones are made; calcium carbonate. And they can sleep for three years!

This cool beetle uses Milky Way as a guide to roll their dung meals away to safety for its family. 🌌🔭

Their way of attracting female is the size of food they provide, if the female is impressed they just hope on the dung ball (food) and enjoy her way to her new home.

Can’t wait to introduce our new friend *The stick*! In science are known as Phasmatodea but are commonly called stick insect. They look like stick and act like stick.

One of the interesting things about them is that they are parthenogenetical, they can reproduce asexually, but their eggs will only hatch females. If male are involved there is 50-50% chance of male.

They move slow but their tactics are admirable. They sometimes lay eggs in the air purposely so that ants can take it to their nest as food and when they hatch food is already there.
