We are thrilled to introduce a new edition to the ROSTOK Floor Lamp, a remarkable fusion of organic-inspired design and functionality.

Crafted with recycled waste paper and a fibreglass frame, the ROSTOK Floor Lamp proudly upholds its commitment to sustainable materials. Each piece of recycled paper used in its construction is given a new lease of life, transforming into a unique and elegant structure.

This extraordinary piece takes its place within the PITOMNIK series, a furniture collection inspired by asymmetry and captivating irregularities, encapsulating the allure of imperfection.

Behind the design stands the ingenious mind of Pavel Vishnevsky, whose passion for furniture design shines through in every creation.

“During my university studies, I embarked on a journey to find my own pictorial language, and I discovered that translating it into furniture pieces is my true form of expression. Creating design furniture has become my foremost occupation, a path I will pursue for the rest of my life. I greatly enjoy creating abstract bionic forms that evoke the essence of living things.”

Pavel's imagery and designs are born from abstract sketches, beautifully materialized through pencil strokes on paper. These initial sketches evolve into intricate drawings and come to life as clay models or stunning 3D recreations.

Recycled paper takes center stage as the primary material in Pavel's works, adorned with decorative elements that enhance their originality and unique character.

ROSTOK serves as a testament to Pavel's artistic skill and creative ingenuity, reminding us of the inherent value of repurposing and the extraordinary beauty that sustainability holds.

Jackie Slanley work utilizes laser-cut plexiglass as a mode of storytelling. She re-contextualizes archived images of flora, fauna, and environments to explore relationships between history, fiction, and experience.

Plexi is cut, layered, and fastened together with nuts and bolts, a balancing act that brings poise to their simultaneous instability. Film-like gradient is built up with many layers of tinted transparencies, precipitating each color glow from within.

Using vectors to create digital imagery, she is drawn to symbols that has endured through time by way of myth. For example, fire from the first archived depictions of Hell in 12th century Japanese scrolls can be found rising from every one of the sculptures, each piece set ablaze, depicting a world on fire.

Plant mutation series
3D print
54 x 27 x 29 cm

Nick Ervinck designed a sculpture that is inspired by blooming flowers, like the structure of a rose. Because of the many cut-outs in the organic structure, the design seems to have no volume.

Although the material is solid, it nevertheless seems delicate. The shape of the design keeps changing, keeps evolving, keeps fascinating. Through 3D printing Nick Ervinck is able to capture this movement in a still image.

As always, Nick tries to create an openness that will attract the viewer to consider his work from different angles. The sculptural contradictions, such as inside/outside and rough/smooth, make this work purely poetic. The gradient also contributes to this poetic design language. Ezornil could be described as a poem manifested in physical form.

Maria Ignacia Walker - Chorus

The oeuvre proposes the dissatisfaction of not reconstructing a single truth, of a single face. We are before a face expanded in its quantity, multiplied and deformed - already remembered.

The artist decides to interpret the notion of oblivion in her country’s most exported material: copper, as if what is essential is not the material but its ability to deform. Why choose to deform something when the image is already assembled?

Chorus series. Unique edition
Copper
18wx17Dx14H cm

The cumulative factor suggests that repetition is the only form of oblivion. The performative quality of the artwork lies here: in the extreme and constant action of reassembling and deforming repeatedly. The artist undermines the thesis that there is danger in the present. This series of works is dangerous for the melancholy that lies beneath the following question: What can a face do to a face just by being remembered? The gesture we see in the devices is a choral rictus. It reminds us of Bacon’s faces through its sonic traits. In these vessels, the eyes and mouth possess the same features. It is as if cries of pain didn’t only originate from the mouth, but can also be shouted using all facial muscles, providing sonorous materiality to the vessels, like an archive of screams.

New copper work by María Ignacia Walker.

Maria Walker’s Chorus series works with the expansive notion of deformation by electricity - electroforming baths - copper molecules attach themselves to the sculpture, explode and deform. The structure dissipates, and only traces of the original form remain: vessels filled with the containment of deformed faces.

It is a double deformation, melting a national identity and a choir of faces - undefined in their gender. Questions that arise from these vessels: How do you put materials together in order to forget? How do you export and bring the pain back to copper? This is a work of art about pain, which solidifies pain going back to a face that is returning to pain.

It is as if cries of pain didn’t only originate from the mouth, but can also be shouted using all facial muscles, providing sonorous materiality to the vessels, like an archive of screams. text: Nicolás Lange

Rostocek by Pavel Vishnevsky

"In the process of studying at the university, I groped for my own pictorial language and realized that I like the translation of it through pieces of furniture reflecting my vision and attitude much more than anything else.
To this day, the creation of designer furniture is my priority occupation with which I would like to connect my whole life. I really like to create abstract bionic forms that resemble living beings and function as furniture.

The images that I create in object design are born between paper and pencil in abstract sketches, they themselves pour out of me when I touch the paper with a pencil. Then I draw them in more detailed sketches, make small clay models, or recreate them in 3D. The main material in my artwork is waste paper. I grind the paper into a homogeneous mass, mix it with glue and gypsum, then apply the resulting mass to the frame. Further, the pieces are covered with decorative materials.”

Earthly Collection is based on our relationship to the land and soil. In this series, Emily specifically uses dark brown grog clay to emphasis the link to nature and demonstrates the natural irregularities that can be found in the rich soil. The crackling glaze is a reference to earth when it dehydrates due to lack of water. Emily has created a range of unique glazes, an intricate process, combining different minerals to produce the earthy effects, colours and textures. This rapprochement aims to reconnect and bring nature back into our home

Ceramic. Unique edition

27x35x29 cm

Skin mutation series: Stagnation and movement, tradition and future, handicrafts and digital technologies. They seem to be some of the most obvious contradictions. Yet, without a mutual destruction, they meet in the skin series of Nick Ervinck’s oeuvre. The skin mutations fit perfectly within the tradition of pushing anatomical structures to the surface. The artist combines Henry Moore’s idea of ‘the power of the bone beneath the flesh’ with Francis Bacon’s vision ‘never forget that meat is meat’: bones, knuckles and vertebrae form the supporting construction for the flesh cover in which they are encapsulated.

Organic forms never are a purely human creation. That is why Ervinck points to the great influence nature exerts on him.

Nick considers his skin mutations, his man-made fossils, as similar creatures from an unknown universe. By means of an alienating skeleton dance and restrained by their prison of flesh, they seem to be on the search for a place of their own in the current time and space. The struggle between dynamism and a static pose is a theme that the artist likes to explore on many occasions.

Painted high temperature ceramics, mounted on a steel structure.

50Wx50Dx210H cm

Her artworks are unique handmade sculptures, designed and produced with high temperature ceramics, as in the Japanese tradition. Every part of the ceramic process is personally managed by the artist in her studios in Turin and Madrid, with a special care for the surfaces, that she treats with her characteristic process of clay slips and glazes stratification.

“I’m inspired by the objects that surround me in everyday life. I imitate, study, repeat and multiply them with clay, to transform daily life in poetry. I love to start with a simple common shape and transform it in a precious artwork through the ceramics process.”

Studio S II was cofounded by longtime best friends and collaborators, Erica Sellers and Jeremy Silberberg. The two met at a party while pursuing their undergraduate degrees at RISD. In the summer of 2020, Erica and Jeremy were exploring what would soon become the site of their first gut-renovation. Knowing they shared the same vision, they left their jobs to start Studio S II.

Erica holds a BFA in Industrial Design from RISD and has a decade of experience in fine art. Her expertise includes 3D modeling, tech packs and fabrication development, and prototype creation. Jeremy holds a BFA in Film from RISD and an MFA in Interior Design from Pratt. His expertise includes floor plan and program development, spatial visualization, and generating uncommon and custom objects and furniture.

"We want you to have something unique. Something special that not everyone else has. And we know those things can be tough to find. You’re different, and that’s something to celebrate. We’re different, too."

Ocragela_Anima series by Soowon Chae
This project is an homage to the early human beings, who extracted various potentials from red ochre based on their authentic and primitive understanding of materiality. By assuming a similar attitude of inquisitive curiosity, the project challenges common perceptions around bioplastics and explores a new sustainable and biodegradable material, called Ocragela.

This edition of furniture made of Ocragela questions the value of standardized mass-products of today. As anima, an origin word of animus which means rational soul, life or intelligence, signifies ‘breath’, this design is inspired by intuitive life-form of nature and inherently intelligent animals and processed in one-of-a-kind way from carving the wood to upholstering the structures with Ocragela.

Maruja Mallo, (1952) “Estrellas de mar”

Let's spread the word.

Today, 8th March marks International Women's Day, which commemorates women's struggle for equal rights. Since the emergence in 2017 of the viral movement, ME TOO, the two have become related. To vindicate the trajectory of women in the world of culture, and of art in particular, is a task that concerns us all, without no excuse.

Giving visibility to women's art and their cultural role is a necessity, if we want to have a thorough knowledge of history. Redefining the Canon without exclusions is an essential task for the knowledge and study of art and culture in general. Denouncing the discrimination, oblivion and even contempt in many societies of women artists is an obligation of society as a whole, if we want to advance aesthetically, politically and culturally towards a coexistence far from conflicts, close to the reflection of the questions of tomorrow and its future.

Art and culture are not closed or conclusive worlds, they open doors and take steps every day.

Turquoise Starghorn by Emily Orta

Coral Garden series. Emily’s ecological conscience led her to exploring the alarming degradation of coral reefs. Emily wishes to ‘bring to life’ corals and marine organisms by inventing new organic forms inspired by nature. She has invented her own glazes and combines these with multiple firings to achieve a range of unique coral-textures that represent the microorganisms that live in symbiosis. Her objects can be seen as sculptural reconstructions of the intricate beauty of marine life that is endangered due to pollution and rising sea temperatures. Their function is to refocus our attention on the fragile condition of living.
