Inequality, the phenomenon of unequal and/or unjust distribution of resources and opportunities among members of a given society.

This includes, wealth inequality, treatment inequality and responsibility inequality, political inequality, life inequality, and membership inequality.

Land distribution, educational and vocational opportunities and basic welfare programs are also affected by the growing disparity between the Philippines' richest and poorest citizens. As economic inequality has become more pronounced in the past decade, geographical disparity has grown in the Philippines.

The determined young student was identified as Daniel Cabrera, a student at Subangdaku Elementary School in Subangdaku, Mandaue in Cebu, central Philippines. Because the family does not have electricity at home, Daniel takes advantage of light at the McDonald’s outlet so he could work on his assignments. A lot of netizens said that this kid will have a bright future ahead, calling him ‘madiskarte sa buhay’. Many also admired him for not complaining about his life, choosing instead to find a way to solve his problems.

The poorest region is the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), with its GRDP per capita barely improving from P14,052 in 2009 to P14,657 in 2018.

In Mindanao, December 2009, where more than a thousand Lumad families camped while they begged for pinaskuhan in downtown Davao. The Mintal gym is just one of the places provided by the city government to accommodate the so-called “exodus of Lumad” every Christmas season. There were piles of sacks containing clothes and crockery. The people slept inside the gym and cooked in the makeshift communal kitchen located outside. There was a crowd at the children’s park where some enterprising Lumad put up stalls that sold packets of coffee, sugar, oil, salt, and soy sauce. Candies, biscuits, hotdogs, and barbecued chicken necks and feet were for sale.
