“𝔇𝔬𝔴𝔫 𝔱𝔥𝔢 ℜ𝔞𝔟𝔟𝔦𝔱-𝔥𝔬𝔩𝔢” by Kristen Rästas and Victoria Holdt

Kristen Rästas (*1992) is an Estonian artist based in Berlin. Rästas is an interdisciplinary artist whose recent work incorporates video, conceptualism, virtual reality, and mixed media sculpture. Classical landscape imagery inspires his art projects, which the artist attempts to represent through digital technologies, creating artificial environments that create connections between contemporary human alienation and different explorable realities.

In the current exhibition he is exhibiting his VR 3D-video artwork titled “Look up. Look up in the sky” (2023), which places the viewer onto an ambient summer landscape which symbolises times of innocence. There, an audiovisual narrative unfolds, questioning time, space and personal wellbeing.

Victoria Holdt (*1992) is a Swiss artist who lives and works in Basel. She is interested in exploring the interplay between the body, materials, media, and various systems and is currently working on projects that aim to seamlessly connect the realms of video and sculpture. In her work, human behavior and emotions, including language and wordplay, play a significant role. She often incorporates a touch of irony or humor, viewing them as powerful tools to disrupt established relations and reshape realities.

In the artwork “Muscle Memory” (2023) found footage video collages, for example, of Judy Garland and Britney Spears, colliding with images of turtles hatching, are originally projected onto organic forms crafted from animal glue, also known as hide glue. In the given specifically reshaped version of this art installation, the visitor can experience it in a 360 degree digital space.

We first started with the web gallery in 2020 Spring and have held so far almost 20 art exhibitions & different multimedia collaborative projects on our gallery website. From the start, our focus has been in achieving the most welcoming, concept true and aesthetic solutions that the web format can offer artworks. We work as an experimental team, who is always intrigued to learn more within these possibilities.

In 2023 we began with a more curated exhibition program, for which, each member of post-gallery.online proposed a project to initiate.
For the following year we wish to expand and include other creative people, groupings and organisations who might have interest or experience in multimedia and web based artistic projects.

Here’s a snippet from Keiu Maasik’s artwork “One Match of Erangel”, which is part of the group exhibition titled 'Bҽƚɯҽҽɳ ƚԋҽ IɳʋιʂιႦʅҽ Wαʅʅʂ' -gallery .online' at post-gallery.online.

The video shows a match in the survival game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). The goal of the game is to be the last survivor on a map with approximately one hundred players. In this match, my teammate was the Estonian female gamer Kadi Kuusmann, with whom we discussed e-sports, gender equality in the gaming world and so-called violent video games while playing.
