Artist in Focus: Michael Chittock

“To Michael, the enjoyment of painting is in representing life’s journey, either in narrative moments with the figure, or in the subtle changes of light in the spaces of his landscapes,” says art historian Dr. Paul Ivey.

“His work explores the ever-evolving connections that we have to our social contexts, and how these can produce the ideas we hold about ourselves.”

Chittock is an established Tucson-based artist with a BFA from the University of Arizona and a 25-year art career that includes a solo exhibition at the Bakersfield Museum of Contemporary Art in California.

Michael Chittock's ability to capture people in uncanny scenes shines through in the Bourbon Street and Buffet Bar series that are available only at

ARTIST IN FOCUS: Michael Chittock

Michael Chittock's figurative paintings are like rare undiscovered treasures in the vast sea of visual mimicry and redundancy that exists in the art world.

These intriguing depictions of raw social and emotional human exchanges often challenge our notions of predictable scenarios.

“There's a storyline in my work but it's up to you to create it."

Also driven by his concerns with geometry, order, and structural relatonships, Chittock often explores themes and ideas through skecthing or creating a series.

"A true artist is an inventor. And in my art practice, the act of inventing never ends."

The "Bourbon Street" and "Buffet Bar" series are classic examples Chittock's inventive voyeuristic explorations. Check out these exclusive collections at

ARTIST IN FOCUS: Kevin McLaughlin

While pursuing a Masters degree in Fine Art, Kevin and a small group of his artist colleagues developed airbrush techniques and a 'pattern painting' style that defined their 'Chicago' aesthetic.

"We were a Chicago-oriented hybrid," explains Kevin. "It’s hard to define exactly, but the art back then had a peculiar feel to it. I was influenced not only by the Imagists but also other cutting-edge abstract artists."

"Our airbrush techniques gave our work a decidedly different look from the New York style at the time. We developed a certain short-hand approach to chiaroscuro."

After mastering airbrush techniques in the commercial and advertising worlds, Kevin began exploring digital technology to create his own art.

"With computers and advanced editing software, lights, bells, and whistles went off in my mind! Digital art has become second nature to me... it's an avenue to express myself."

ARTEZONA Gallery is excited to venture into the world of DIGITAL ART! You can purchase these beautiful digital creations by Kevin McLaughlin exclusively at

Right now, these designs are offered as prints on fine art paper which can be customized to any size. We are also exploring other innovative formats such as animated digital files and NFTs... so please stay tuned!

“We accept the love we think we deserve." How true is this statement?! You may have accepted conditional love but it doesn't have to be that way.

"For years I accepted the love I thought I deserved based on everyone else’s expectation for my life." explains Madi, a marketing consultant for

In spite of the divisiveness that we may have witnessed or experienced around us, we firmly believe that we can thrive and grow stronger through diversity, acceptance, and love.

"My hope is that the world as a whole will come to realize that love does heal all, and that each human is worthy of joy, peace, love, and respect."

Embrace who YOU are. Embrace the LOVE that you DESERVE. Happy PRIDE!

Are you a modernist looking for that perfect piece to complement your interior design?

Check out the abstract geometric paintings by artist Tim Murphy. They are versatile, elegant and one of a kind.

Add a level of sophistication to your living space with original ART available exclusively at

We're here to help you with design decisions too! Please DM or call us to speak to a professional ARTEZONA curator who is ready to answer questions and assist you.

Tim Murphy manifests his artistic skill and ideas with shapes, textures, and colors that merge to build an appealing visual structure.

With a fine art foundation from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston as well as an MFA and years as a faculty member at The University of Arizona School of Art, Tim's pictorial language harkens back to the non-objective compositions of early 20th century masters such as Fernand Léger, Jean Hélion, and Josef Albers.

Geometric abstraction can express emotions or ideas without reliance upon recognizably real objects.

"I enjoy taking a creative concept and cultivating it into a tangible work of art. Using my intuition and simple shapes, a design emerges that may have been there all along."

ARTEZONA's mission is to honor accomplished artists like Tim whose body of work reflect a lifetime of study and practice.

ARTIST IN FOCUS: Evamaria Lugo

Evamaria Lugo's love of humanity and the simple things in life inspire her distilled figurative paintings.

"For me, creating art is very much a part of self-discovery and self-clarification. The course of my life has not been without challenges, including overcoming alcoholism to self-acceptance as a member of the LGBTQ+ community."

"I am grateful for the help and support of many magnificent humans guiding me along the way."

At ARTEZONA, we celebrate Pride Month by honoring the stories of LBGTQ artists and community members.

ARTIST IN FOCUS: Josh Goldberg

Josh Goldberg is a visual artist, poet, philosopher, mentor, and translator of Japanese. Influenced by his studies on Daoism, Josh believes in letting the path show us the way.

"My philosophy involves a spontaneous dialogue with the painting. I take my ego out of the work and let the process guide me. I call this the “Painter’s Path.”

While creating "abstract visions of imaginary places," these graceful paintings take us on a journey of mindfulness and letting go.

"In my practice, the work reveals nothing outside itself. It becomes what it is."

At ARTEZONA Gallery, we believe that ART enriches our lives. Visit to learn about Josh and see more of his work.

Also check out the wonderful LIVE interview with Josh on our FB page ARTEZONA

This week in our Artist in Focus, we are being joined by Josh Goldberg! We will discuss who the artist is behind the art and why they do what they do.

ARTIST IN FOCUS: Gagik Vardanyan
The tapestry of brush strokes in Gagik Vardanyan’s work reveals the layered chapters of his amazing life story.

As a dissident artist in Soviet Armenia, Gagik helped pioneer the abstract art movement there. While his style has gone through a few iterations, Gagik's newest collections of paintings are inspired by the patterns and colors of the California landscape.

Read about the life experiences of this extraordinary artist in the "Artist in Focus" section of Gagik's page on ARTEZONA's website, and consider purchasing one of his amazing paintings for your living space. Available exclusively at ARTEZONA Gallery

ARTIST IN FOCUS: Gagik Vardanyan
Some art is about an idea or a technique, and then there is art that is derived from profound life experiences.

Gagik was part of a small group of dissident artists in Soviet Armenia who spearheaded a new abstract art movement. Because of this, they endured severe censorship and oppression under the communist regime. Yet, Gagik and his fellow artists kept on painting as an act of rebellion.

After immigrating to Buenos Aires where he lived and painted for many years, Gagik moved to Califonia and is once again 'rethinking' his role as an artist. “Now I paint with new colors, and alas, the rebellion of art still keeps me going!”

Learn more about Gagik's story and experience the new-found hope and energy of his paintings available exclusively at ARTEZONA Gallery

ARTEZONA's mission is to advocate for creativity and working artists. This is one way in which we stand apart from other online galleries. At ARTEZONA, we honor each artist's creative process and take pride in sharing their stories.

Most galleries focus on the artist's "BIO" which reads like a resume. And while past shows and exhibits mark the milestones of an artist's career, at ARTEZONA we also feel it's important for you to know the artist as a person.

Each ARTEZONA artist writes a personal narrative in their own voice with details about their lives and creative process that helps us understand how and why they became an artist. We call this the "Artist in Focus" section and it can be found on each artist’s page on our website.

Check out and join us in amplifying CREATIVITY and elevating the path of professional artists!

Nostalgia is defined as a longing or wistful affection for the past. But what happens when you feel nostalgia for the present rather than for the past? At times, I feel like I’m experiencing reality like a déjà-vu. Or is it déjà-vu as reality? Put another way, it’s like being in a dream-like state which seems very very real. This could be a good thing. Right now, I’m in a street in a place where I grew up… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

"Courage is the capacity to confront what can be imagined." Strangely, this quote by Leo Rosten reads like a battle cry.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Obviously, no one could have ever predicted the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people are afraid and want to imagine that everything will return to 'normal' again soon. And there are others who may also be afraid but have decided to move on from the obsolete past and re-imagine the future.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Way before all of this, I had set my intention on creating an online niche brand in the contemporary art market with a curated roster of professional artists and personalized engagement strategies.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With a strange blend of trepidation and courage, I’ve been moving forward a little each day with this project.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the past, I owned two art gallery spaces –one in Tucson and one in Scottsdale—so I understand and have lived with the pros and cons of operating a brick & mortar gallery. As we are all witnessing right now, this model is not the best or the only way to exhibit art and promote talented artists.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m not at all implying that building an online art gallery is an easy well-chartered path. It’s new, daring, risky and sometimes terrifying!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
MLK Jr. said that "Courage faces fear and thereby masters it.” So what can I do but wake up every day and keep taking the next steps to act on my vision and confront imagined outcomes with intention, perseverance, and yes, a strong dose of courage!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Posted with love, courage, and gratitude,⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
