I'm not generally interested in copying when drawing, rather I like to feel inspired and find my own expression of a subject. This drawing is inspired by the previously posted image.

I found myself fascinated by the structure of this peony whilst deadheading this afternoon; it's so graceful to my eye.

I don't start a painting with any idea of how it might turn out... working with whatever happens when I add water to the materials produces delights I couldn't 'make happen' intentionally... I like it that way 🙂

Drawing with a continuous line whilst only looking at your subject, not your drawing, is a great way to loosen up if you experience critical thinking when art making.

I love the graphic and nieve quality of lines made this way and find colouring in the resulting shapes relaxing and enjoyable too 🙂

I signed up for art class at Ayres House Studios in Wallingford as I wanted to practice my observational drawing and am very good at avoiding doing it at home!

Today we drew from still life without looking at our paper until the time was up... I loved the results of everyone's pieces... and really enjoyed the process too as time disappeared and there was simply looking and markmaking 🥰

Picked up a barely started piece that had been lying around for ages... loving what's appeared!

It's a fair bit larger than many I've made for a while and the energy input of each mark and stroke increased in proportion to the size. Enjoyed that 🙂
