Good afternoon ICRC supporters!

We are in the process of getting set up with internet and in order to qualify for the E-Rate Program through the FCC, we are to develop and implement a Child Internet Protection Act [C**A] Internet Safety Policy.

Further, we are to hold a public meeting to discuss comments, concern, and questions. This meeting will be held at the ICRC on Wednesday, January 31st, from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.

It would be of great help and appreciation if you would take a few minutes to review our draft policy and/or comment here:

You can also access the google comment form through our website:

Thank you so much for your continued support! Hoping to get connected in-house soon and bring more historical, cultural knowledge to our community through the World Wide Web!

To clear up confusion, there will NOT be an author reading/book signing tomorrow, December 8th. It was tentative (was not finalized) and ended up getting printed in the North Columbia Monthly as a confirmed event.

We will look at rescheduling on another date in the near future with Ms. Cassano. So sorry for the inconvenience!

More news! The Inchelium Cultural Research Center has received a grant from the Washington State Library to address our digital preservation needs! Since we’ve received plenty of archives and special collection materials in digital formats – and anticipate the likelihood of donations in such formats to increase – our project, “Digital Preservation Infrastructure” will support staff training in, and development of a Digital Preservation Plan with accompanying policies, procedures, and workflows. Additionally, we intend to wrap in our youth and community through skills development in digital preservation next summer!

This grant is supported with funding provided by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Library Services and Technology Act, through the Washington State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork! Nancy may not be with us in person, but we are still here, continuing on the legacy of the Inchelium Cultural Research Center. There have been a few wondering about our whereabouts and we just want to keep in touch with all our supporters and patrons - we are back in the office and pushing on.

Please feel free to come by and see us:

Per the family, in lieu of or in addition to flowers, we are welcoming donations on behalf of Nancy Michel’s lasting legacy as President of the Board and founder of the Inchelium Cultural Research Center.

Payments can be made online with a credit/debit card, where annual memberships can also be purchased. Cash and check are accepted also, and can be given to any one of our board members or mailed to:

Inchelium Cultural Research Center
PO Box 206
Inchelium, WA 99138

While we will be forever mourning Nancy, this loss emphasizes our need to continue our work in sharing stories with the many communities and members whose lives and livelihoods intersect with the history and people of Inchelium. We thank you for supporting Nancy, and the continued work of the ICRC.

It is with incredible sadness that we share with our supporters, friends, family, the passing of one of our founders, the mover and shaker, President of the Board of Directors, Nancy Michel.

Words do no justice in expressing our gratitude to this FIERCE community member who believed in the betterment of and for our town, the Tribe, and the Sinixt people. We are so GRATEFUL for all those who helped bring the Grand Opening of our new facility into existence, and will continue working harder to maintain the legacy of both Nancy Michel and Kaye Hale through our organization.

Thank you, our beloved community, for loving and laughing with Nancy Michel, and sharing your stories. Please feel free to add or send any pictures you might have of her with us, as we will be dedicating some space in our facility to her memory and the continued legacy of our community history.
