Echo Mapping
Elaine Grainger + Moa Gustafsson Söndergaard

Residency: 24-30 March
Exhibition Launch: 28 March, 18:00 - 22:00

PINK is proud to launch Echo Mapping, the first in a series of international artist residencies, inviting artists to produce site-responsive work that reflects Stockport’s shifting landscape.

By welcoming artists from different countries and cultural contexts, these residencies offer fresh perspectives on familiar spaces—uncovering nuances often overlooked by those who experience them daily. Through observation, dialogue, and engagement with local materials and histories, these visiting artists bring new insights into Stockport’s evolving identity.

Echo Mapping brings together Elaine Grainger (Ireland) and Moa Gustafsson Söndergaard (Sweden) in a collaborative exploration of the body, architecture, and the impermanence of place. Emerging from a shared research process facilitated by curator Katy Morrison (PINK), the project interrogates Stockport’s industrial past and ongoing urban transformation—charting its textures, histories, and absences through movement, memory, and materiality. Using the gallery as both a site of encounter and a living research space the artists will engage in a week-long dynamic exchange, bridging their individual practices through sensory exploration and spatial inquiry.

Through sculpture, performance, and installation, Grainger and Söndergaard seek to explore the shifting relationship between the body, architecture, and place. Inviting audiences into an evolving dialogue, the exhibition challenges the boundaries between the individual and the collective, the material and the intangible, the real and the imagined.

Public Programme:
Artist Talk: 29 March, 14:00 - 16:00 (FREE, to be announced)
A [KAMPTAL] Wine Tasting: 29 March, 19:00 - 22:00 (TICKETED, link in bio)

Announcing the first of 3 events, celebrating our first birthday in Stockport:

25KG ALTAR
A solo exhibition by Ben Barbetta Thompson

Opening Saturday 14 September 6 — 10pm

Live soundtrack by
Drinks continue at

25KG ALTAR is a presentation of power. A bearing of weight, slipping through fingers. When the ink cracks, what shows through the stains. Held in place by pure will, forced to fall, inevitable. As the light fades through the windows of a converted office block, filled with one year’s obsession, are you reminded of evening mass? A ritual regurgitated from memory through the gaping mouth of modernity, like a printer forcing sheets, losing power.

EBELTOFT

On Thursday I made the crazy decision to travel outside of Aarhus and visit the beautiful small town of Ebeltoft. Crazy because I decided to do the 3+ hour journey there on a bike…

I went up there to visit & a fabulous cultural centre at the heart of this coastal town. The space, resources and overall support they receive is incredible and spurs me on to push the boundaries of what is capable of.

The highlight of the visit was hearing the current artists in residence talk about their work and how their stay in Ebeltoft had influenced their work. Thank you & for the insights into both your practices!

A very short but sweet trip but this town has certainly left its mark on my thinking! 24 hours, 96km and one LUXURY sea view room (sometimes life knows when to throw you a free upgrade…)

To be continued, Ebeltoft!

P.s for you cycling enthusiasts out there, swipe to the end to see what I stupidly navigated the route and rolling hills on…

UPCOMING EXHIBITION

This week we begin install for TESTAMENT, a group show hosted by and featuring Maeve Thompson, Victoria Mehr & Bertie (bear) Thomas.

TESTAMENT crosses territories of memory, folk histories and sentimentality; with an emphasis on individual practices rooted in woodwork, casting and textile. The selected works are an ode to the once familiar corners of childhood homes, a tribute to sworn secrets, and traded stickers; a song for the passing places of country lanes, and the bolder optimists staring directly into the sun.

Join us on Wednesday 1st May from 6-9pm for the launch; then the exhibition continues by appointment until 7th May.

For more information, or to schedule an appointment you can get in touch via [email protected]

We’ve got a little May Bank Holiday treat in store for you all courtesy of Handbook in Motion.

Join us on 27th May from 7pm-10pm for Tara Clerkin Trio (live)

Tara Clerkin Trio are Pat Benjamin, Sunny Joe Paradisos and Tara Clerkin, three musicians involved in a number of cult Bristol bands over the years before confidently settling down in triangle formation. They are inspired by and borrow from jazz, trip hop, electronica, psychedelia & minimalism, twirling the non-pretentious strands of these threads together into a trippy green winged-cloak, adorning Arthur Russell and dripping in blue jam.

Also joining us on the evening will be: Puma (DJ) spinning Latin American & influenced sounds - expect vintage Salsa, Cumbia, Mambo; as well as Handbook in Motion resident DJ, Josh Lentink.

Tickets are available via the link in our bio - - go go go!

UPCOMING EVENT

February is shaping up to be a busy one for us! We’ve just added another event to our calendar, this one is super limited so grab your free tickets whilst your can! 🤍🎟️

Join us on Thursday 29th February from 6pm-9pm for Method Over Matter, an expanded film performance by artist Jenny Baines.

As part of the project New Arrangements, artist Jenny Baines will be presenting a new body of work as an expanded film performance, which incorporates a series of 16mm film loops projected onto free-standing structures. The works’ arrangement creates different rhythms and patterns of movement, through which the audience can freely move. In each of the 16mm films the artist performs a physical action, which collectively explore the relationship between the body, screen and space.

Tickets are FREE but limited so head to the link in our bio to grab yours!

ABOUT NEW ARRANGEMENTS

New Arrangements is a collaborative project initiated by artists Jenny Baines and Anna Macdonald. It brings the two artists’ practices into contact for the first time, aiming to explore the creative potential of working in-situ with another person through active processes of thinking and making.

New Arrangements departs from the artists’ synchronous use of choreographic, pared back statements to explore the durational qualities of the body as material and film as document. Baines’ work takes the form of performance for camera, whilst Macdonald’s operates within screendance. Both artists explore the relationship of the body, screen and space and how this is navigated through the production and display of their work. New Arrangements serves to collapse the barriers between sculptural form, film and dance making. Interweaving layers of relation, creation, and a process of ‘working things out’ through doing, arranging and rearranging.

It’s been a few days since our Crowdfunder ended and a few days to come to terms with the incredible support we received from you all.

We reached £5075 with you’re help. This means we can finally build our gallery walls, as well as begin work on our 3rd floor space.

Yesterday we were in the space, the sun was shining and it felt like the start of a very important new chapter.

Thank you to everyone who supported us. Whether you donated or shared our campaign, you have helped us enormously.

We are delighted to announce the winners of our raffle:

has won a set of Liam Fallon’s arrows 💘and and .ceramics have each one a limited edition sculpture by Kevin Hunt!

We will now begin the process of sending out rewards and will be in touch with everyone individually as and when.

But for now, we breathe a sigh of relief in the knowledge that our future is that little bit more secure.

And so it begins…

Yesterday we picked up the keys to our new floor!!

We can’t quite believe that we’ve already got to a stage in which we need to expand, but it’s happened and we’re leaning in.

We’ve begun welcoming in the new studio holders who will be calling this floor home, and from today will begin refurbing this space as well as planning some very exciting events to activists it!

You might be sick of us saying this, but our Crowdfunder is still on the go and we NEED your support.

is currently completely self-funded, so to make this ambition a reality we need to raise up to £10,000 🤍

There’s just over 3 weeks left on our Crowdfunder, so if you haven’t had chance to explore the different rewards and artworks available, please head over and support us in any way you can!

Let the refurb commence (and yes, there is another floor to sort…)
