Our first attempt at creating 3D models of items in our collection hasn’t gone as well as we had hoped. Looks like we need to use a black background (instead of white) and a polarized light to reduce the specular highlights. If you have experience with photogrammetry and Apple’s Object Capture technology built into macOS 12, please share your tips for getting good results! This particular model was created using ~200 photos taken with a Sony α7R Ⅳ at 61 megapixels each.

Restoration work continues on the “Schlumberger” Apple-1 computer by the expert team of engineers at @elcomeofficial who do all of the repair and restoration work for the computers in our collection. Touched by the Hand of Woz ✋🏻 Though we had an overwhelmingly positive response to the photos and videos of Woz signing our 1976 Apple-1 computer, some people did express their concern about such a rare and valuable relic being handled in public that way. Our view is that there’s no safer place for it to be than in the hands of its creator.
