Introducing New Artist: Emily Belsham Rakuscapes

RakuScapes was born from a love of nature, travel, and handmade craftsmanship. Emily has always found joy in creating, especially working with her hands—utilizing a variety of mediums.

Inspired by her passion for travel, national parks, and the beauty of the great outdoors, she began crafting unique ceramic pieces that capture the essence of the landscapes she adores. Emily crafts mountain-scape sculptures and other pieces of art.

Every piece is handcrafted using the raku firing technique, a process that embraces unpredictability, making each work of art one of a kind—just like the landscapes that inspire them.

With RakuScapes, Emily hopes to share her love of nature, adventure, and artistry, helping others bring the beauty of the outdoors into their everyday lives.

Wildlife Photography is more than just getting the shot. It takes patience and a deep understanding of how they move within the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. We are always thrilled when Steve Mattheis drops new works in the shop.

It's morel season! Rumor has it that they have been a bit elusive this season. Art in the Alpine made us these super cute trinket dishes and they will last longer than the actual mushroom. Not a mushroom fan? That's okay, plenty of other cute options, too.

Shop us online or in shop 10-6pm daily.

Anna Douglas Smith always delivers! A new batch of works in a larger size format have arrived to the shop and we are obsessed. Mixing iconic typography with everyday objects like cowboy hats and boots to bison and moose, Anna explores how humans not only live in the valley of Jackson Hole but how they live with the valley. Her bold color choices not only make a statement but bring a punch to any space.

Find these 24 x 18 inch works on the website or pop by to see us in person! Shop is open daily, 10-6pm.

MEET THE ARTIST: NICOLE TAFOYA

Nicole Tafoya is a mixed media artist based in Rigby, Idaho, where she works from her home studio. Her art is deeply inspired by the wildlife and natural landscapes surrounding Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Through her layered, textural approach, she brings animals to life in ways that celebrate both the beauty of nature and the storytelling potential of reclaimed materials.

Nicole Tafoya’s work explores the intersection of sculpture and collage through the creation of animal forms. Each piece begins with hand-sculpted clay, capturing the spirit and individuality of each animal. She then layers these forms with collaged surfaces made from painted papers of newspapers, vintage book pages, and other ephemera. These materials, rich with history and texture, allow her to create depth and narrative within the work. By combining the permanence of clay with the fragility of paper, she invites the viewer into a tactile and imaginative world where the natural world meets fragments of the past.

Add these beauties to a salon style wall or the small nook that could use a little whimsy. These pieces are sure to put a smile on your face! Shop this work online at artshopjh.com or come see us in the shop from 10-6pm.

We aren't sure which we like better - the hand-cut paper collage by Kris Batchelder or the mixed media, paper, and clay sculpture by Nicole Tafoya. Either way, seems like these two bison belong together!

Come see us in the shop today 10-6pm.

Did you know?
The words “bison” and “buffalo” are often used interchangeably, but there are numerous differences between these animals. The most obvious is the large hump on the back of the bison. Buffalo do not have a hump. Bison have a massive head, but buffalo have a head that is smaller and more “cowlike.” Buffalo live in generally warmer climates than bison. Bison are able to survive and thrive in harsh conditions, like the bitter cold winters of the prairie plus the fur of a bison is much thicker.

New works have been arriving for the past couple of weeks and we feel like a kid in a candy store! I don’t think we will ever tire of Cowboy themed works, especially when they come from Boughton Walden. Bold contrasting colors combined with the nostalgia of western Americana.

Shop is open 10-6pm daily for the summer season. Take a beautiful drive north and come see us!
