Had a lovely dive at Windmill after being out of the water for a while cause of bad storms and rough seas. It was not the best visibility but very calm with no surge and just so tranquil and relaxing to just hover around and hear the sounds of the reef crackling man my explanation doesn't do justice. Here is some photos i took on my adventure. I have to say the reef has changed quite a bit after the last storm and was a bit disorientating when try to navigate cause the reef is no more exposed and allot of the sand bank was pushed back.
Hi here's a cool video i took the other day.
Had a few dives a while back and captured some pics but its been very cold and weather been messing up the sea so haven't been in the water in a while.
I did a solo dive at castle rock on the 22nd dec 2022 left side for first time and It was such a awesome dive so beautiful cenery there and shallow nice for snorkeling too. Here is a short video.
I did a dive a while back with Indigo Scuba Diving Centre and the conditions weren't in out favor but still managed to get some shots off before we had to surface enjoy.
Had a lovely Afternoon dive on Friday past with Arno De Korte & Kareema Mohamed-Salie at Castle Rock Simonstown dive site left side entry and heres some photo's I snapped on my adventure enjoy.
Cow shark video from my night dive
Another video I shot of the cow shark on my night dive
Had an awesome night dive with Impact Divers last night for international night dive as well as impacts 1 year birthday anniversary and was a lovely day spending with good people. So while we dived the simonstown yatch club basin we came across a beautiful shy 7 gill female cow shark that pop for a visit. What an awesome first for me as I've heard so much talk of these sharks in the past but was told they no longer visit our shores cause of the orcas hunting them so was very surprised to see one on my night dive 😀 enjoy the videos.
Well it's been a while since I've been in the water due to being sick with a bad flu + the weather and conditions haven't been all that great for diving. I did however manage to make time yesterday Morning for an early dive at Aframe with Arno and wow was it worth its. The Visibly was surprisingly based on previous bad reports very good and as we got in at Aframe the vis was about 6-8m and got a bit dirty going out with lots of jellies and salp( A type of plankton looking little see through jelly worms) you will see them in the videos I will posting. The highlight of the dive was all the fish that were surrounding us when 2 gully sharks came cruising past us one plain silverish grey gully and a spotted gully few seconds later on top of a fat seal that also was on the hunt. To tell the truth its was a bit of a funny experience cause my buddy Arno signaled to me as i was coming over the coral ridge that he had seen a huge shark & obviously my mind raced towards a great white so there were little bubble coming out of my suit...lol however once I saw the gully sharks it made more sense and was somewhat relieved but also excited. enjoy...;-)😂
Had a lovely dive this morning at Aframe while on leave this week and took this short video of an octi busy hiding from as i cam past busy looking for nudibranch's.
Hi all I know I haven’t posted for a while as the conditions in the false bay sea hasn’t been ideal but hey we take what we can get and when the opportunity presents itself I take it with both hands cause I love my time under the water it’s so peaceful and tranquil and relaxing. I have dived a few different sites in these photos, and most were from site’s like Aframe and long beach Simonstown. There are some nudibranchs, octopus, Pyjama shark, anemones, Sea hares , slugs ,snails, crabs and just beautiful colours of soft coral that caught my eye. Enjoy
Good morning all. Its wed middle week day almost weekend. Arno De Korte , Anastasia Solstice and myself went for a dive on Monday Afternoon to try and get the last of the good vis that was left before the wind changed from Westerly to southerly which then messes up the falsebay vis. We checked most sites but landed up diving at Castle rock site. It was high tide and a bit of a batlle going in and coming out but overall had a lovely dive and managed to get some good photo's. Enjoy
Wow had such a beautiful dive this Sunday at Aframe and I can never get enough of the awesome colours and variety of sea life with so much soft colourful coral and sea creatures like the anemones, cuttlefish, different nudibranchs, Carpet worms, Octopus & red romans, just love it. Here are some of the photo's I took on my 75min dive the vis was not too great out in the deeper side but awesome in the shallows and I think it might get better by tom with the wind blowing north westerly.
Hi all my underwater fans the weather played along the last 3 days and cause of the north westerly wind it blew the sea nice & clean in falsebay and after hearing lots of comments and vis reports I called my dive buddy David and we met up at Aframe Simonstown for a lovely chilly dive as the temp was 12 degrees and we managed to stay down for 1 hour and 45min me on a 15L and david on a 12L (im sure he has gills...lol) and we did some hunting for Nudibranches and with a little bit of surge I managed to get some good photo's. I would just like to mention that the purple with orange tips is a Candy Nudibranch and is 2-3mm in full size which makes it tough to find but even harder to get a focused shot cause of its size and the fact it has little nodgiles it moves with the slightest change of water movement and i have to take at least 10 to 15 shots to get one good one and this goes the same for the orange eye nudi and the cow nudi which are in the same size category. enjoy the beauti and colors its makes every dive worth it. ;-) thx David Welch for the joining me.
Did a dive this morning early for the first time at Kalkbay Harbor around the wall and the conditions were not good vis was about 2m and it got pretty cold as we went in deeper to 12degrees and Carel Van der Colff was hunting lead so i tried keeping up and getting some photo's but far and few in between. Thx Alison Beere and Arno De Korte and Jane Holdcroft for joining.
Hi all had a lovely early at Sandy cove 12 apostles dive with Carel Van der Colff , Arno De Korte and the gang on Saturday past and the visibility was about 2m and green but warm for the Atlantic 15d degrees. Got some nice Nudi photo's and a bit lost on the way back lol....had to surface swim back cause my navigational skills were struggling...anyways had an awesome dive here some of the photo's I took.
Hi all and a merry Christmas and happy new year to all of you reading this may it be a prosperous new year with lots of new and exciting adventures ahead. I have tried do some diving in the December 2021 but the weather and wind and sea have not been playing nicely together. here are some photo's i managed to take on the dives i did which was not easy as there was quite a few bad conditions in the sea on these dives like bad visibility and surge. enjoy the photo's i try and capture as much color as i can. The sites were Aframe , long beach and Atlantic side. ;-)
Hi all hers some photo's i took on some of the dives I've done in the past few days they mixed from false bay and Atlantic sides. The conditions have not been amazing but dive able. Enjoy 😉
Hi all I had a beautiful 84min dive at Aframe Simonstown today and the vis was 3-4m but no surge and the vis didn’t bother me that much cause I was on a macro expedition to find some Nudibranches which are very small well camouflaged sea slugs. I challenge u to comment on the photo’s and identify them if you want, so you can also see how beautiful & colorful these creatures are and why its so rewarding to find them and get a good photo. Some of these are 3-4mm in size so very hard to get focused shots when they are constantly moving under the water…..Enjoy and thx to David Welch , Alison Beere and Stefan Budricks for joining and spotting.😊
Hi all had such a beautiful long weekend of diving past. The conditions of the weather and the sea made for such good diving on Heritage Day that I did 2 dives one after each other at Aframe. The 1st dive was with OMSAC club members and 2nd with Carel Van der Colff(has a keen eye and always a pleasure to dive with as a buddy) who helped me spot some amazing critters. The sea was calm under the water with almost no surge and visibility of 6m. I took quite a few photos of all sorts of Nudibranchs and Anemone’s and some rock fish and a sucker fish. I also captured a flatworm, some cute starfish, some shark eggs, a few octi’s as well as some beautiful soft and hard colorful corals that caught my eye. It's really is so peaceful diving there and a must if you haven’t already. I can’t identify by name all the nudibranchs yet but can say that they were not easy to find and you have to move slow as well as have a light to help spot. The size of some of these critters (Nudi’s) are 5mm which make it difficult and sometime impossible to capture in focus. I land up taking maybe 10 photo’s and get one in focus cause of the surge or movement under the water. I also want to thank all of you for following my diving experiences and I hope these post’s will help everyone who has not scuba dived or snorkeled in the sea to realize what they are missing. There really is no reason to fear any of the sea creatures but to just respect them and their space. So many people ask me are you not scared, and I tell them there is nothing to fear. I have dived over 100 dives in cape town and only seen small sharks like pajama and shy sharks and they live by there name as shy sharks and avoid humans where they can. The fish are so friendly, red romans especially are very curious and sometime follow me when I dive. The coral's are so colorful and beautiful. One thinks that once you have dived a site you have seen it all but you will be mistaken as there is always something new to see or experience. Pls feel free to comment on any photo's and I will try and answer where I can but I am still a novice of the diversity of the critters and creatures and corals in our shores....enjoy
Hi all had a lovely dive this weekend at a new spot i haven't dived before from the beach called castle rock with David Welch. I have to say it was very surprisingly pleasant and calm compared to all the other sites and seems to be nicely sheltered as the wind was blowing north westerly. Really beautiful site to dive only negative was the climb back up to the road from the beach and the entry in was a a bit of a climb over the stones but overall very little surge and nice variety of sea life and coral. I managed to get of a few photo's that caught my eye and some nudi's and just some pics to show of the underwater beauty we have in south africa.
Hi All once again I dived this weekend Saturday at Windmill beach simonstown and the visibility wasnt so good in the shallow but cleaned up a bit deeper in however it was rather challenging try to get focused shot's with the surge underwater moving you back n forth 1.5m at a time ;-). Thx to Arno De Korte and Carl Du Preez for joining me as it was an overall awesome dive cause practice makes perfect and if you can dive in cape town man u can handle anything. I managed to get some nice photo's see below. we saw a few Nudi's soft coral and some beautiful colors and a friendly octopus teacher who gave Arno some lessons, they were arm wresteling and then the octi tried to invite anro for tea in his den. ;-) enjoy
