Minnesota Decoy Collectors Association This group was formed in the early 1960’s. We are concerned with collecting, preserving, and documenting the folk art of decoy carving and painting of years gone by. We also encourage contemporary carvers and artists of waterfowl, game birds and shorebirds. Decoys, although originally designed as a utilitarian object, have become an art object and a part of Americana. They are unique to America and are truly original American folk art. We wish to focus attention on the rich heritage of collectible decoys that have been made and used in America during the past century, to learn their inimitable characteristics, and to preserve the colorful stories of the people who have made decoys. The exchange of information is a by-product of collecting. We hold our annual antique decoy and collectibles show at the Thunderbird in Bloomington the first weekend of February each year.

Mission: Minnesota Decoy Foundation In 1991 the Minnesota Decoy Foundation (a non-profit organization) was formed to encourage the preservation of decoys made by Minnesota decoy carvers. We feel it is important to provide a foundation to receive donations of decoys and related hunting collectibles or funds to purchase Minnesota decoys, artifacts and documents for permanent exhibition. Anyone interested in the above donations or projects should contact Marty Hanson or Larry Thomforde. Hello My name is Robert and I am a big fan of my we’re I came from. These are my dads. I lost him two years ago. We ran together right up to the end, I have no regrets. I named my duck boat (decoy) and we dad and I would camp out in the marsh from Friday morning to Sunday just so we could get our hot spot. Done this for the past 15 years with dad. I never asked about these decoys other than we had them forever it seemed I’m 41 now. Any info would help as I am looking to possibly find a new home for these guys. I live in Grand Haven Michigan however I was born in northern Minnesota.
