Here you go everyone. Want to learn about Woodville railroad history, how it used to be, and the neighboring communitys along the line??

The work has already been, just enjoy.

We had Arlyn in Woodville during the Syttende Mai a couple years back. He gave a great presentation on the Railroad line from Woodville through Spring Valley, Elmwood to Weston. Along with that, and many photos, he has now included the line that ran from Woodville to Emerald.

If you are interested in local railroad history, you may want my latest book 'The Spring Valley Line.' It is about the railroad that ran south from Woodville to Brookville, Wildwood, Spring Valley, Elmwood, Comfort, and Weston and north to Emerald. The book is available in Perfect (glued) binding and Spiral (coil) binding and costs $30 plus $5 P/H. Arlyn Colby, email [email protected], website wisconsinrailroadbooks.com

Regarding the flooding event, an emergency declaration has been made by St. Croix County. Any businesses and homeowners with storm/flood damage should call 2-1-1 to report their damage. This will assist the county in damage assessment and allow them to gather further information regarding shelter needs and if volunteers are needed to help with clean up. Clean up efforts can include debris removal, muck-out, mold mitigation & remediation, roof tarping, among several other resources.

Woodville Lions Club

Woodville Lions Club

After several days of investigation and internal conversation, The Board of Directors of The Woodville Lions Club has voted to cancel our Syttende Mai celebration for this year. This was done for two reasons. One is being responsible in the corona virus situation we are in. The other is being financially responsible with our resources. As an organization devoted to community service, we are dependent on our fundraising activities to fund the many service projects we undertake in any given year. We had to make what may seem as a rash decision to some since Syttende Mai is two months away. However these types of events do not happen overnight, and we had reached a point of having to spend thousands of dollars up front to make this event happen, and run the risk of having to cancel it anyway in the future. We take our financial stewardship seriously, and decided we could not take that risk. That money will still find plenty of good uses in the upcoming year.

Reason number two is trying to do what's right concerning the corona virus situation we find ourselves in. One of our members spent most of Friday conferring with local health officials, and they all voiced the opinion that it would be wise to cancel for this year. Not out of panic and fear, but for the heartfelt reason that health care officials still don't really know how this is all going to play out.

We are extremely disappointed that this decision had to be made, but we are confident that for our community and for our club, the right decision was made. God Bless you all!

UP Steam

Below is a link to the "BigBoy" steam locomotive routes and schedule. He will be making a stop in Baldwin on Tuesday July 23 at approx. 9:45am and departing at 10:30 am. He will then be heading East through Woodville on his way to Altoona.
It would be great if people could get pictures of it, and also pictures as it passes through Woodville. Pictures as it passes over the overpass bridge on Lockwood Street, and as it crosses the crossing at East Boundary Rd. in Woodville.
We would love to post the pictures here on our FB page, and also to get copies made for the Historical Societys building for others to enjoy in the future.
A video would also be awesome to get if someone is available that day. If you can help out, it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you!!

I am writing a railroad book to be called 'The Spring Valley Line.' It is about the railroad that ran north to Emerald and south to Brookville, Wildwood, Spring Valley, Elmwood, Comfort, and Weston. I am looking for additional information and pictures. The Woodville Historical Society and the Woodville Public Library have graciously supplied me with many images. THANKS MUCH. I am looking for anything more that people may have. A few things I could use: 1. A short history of Woodville 2. Information about Clark's Siding and the Fleming mill between Woodville and Emerald 3. A little more history of Emerald 4. A plat map of the track between Woodville and Emerald showing Clark's Siding and Fleming Siding 5. Pictures of Comfort Thanks!!
