UP Steam

Below is a link to the "BigBoy" steam locomotive routes and schedule. He will be making a stop in Baldwin on Tuesday July 23 at approx. 9:45am and departing at 10:30 am. He will then be heading East through Woodville on his way to Altoona.
It would be great if people could get pictures of it, and also pictures as it passes through Woodville. Pictures as it passes over the overpass bridge on Lockwood Street, and as it crosses the crossing at East Boundary Rd. in Woodville.
We would love to post the pictures here on our FB page, and also to get copies made for the Historical Societys building for others to enjoy in the future.
A video would also be awesome to get if someone is available that day. If you can help out, it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you!!

The Woodville Historical Society is open to anyone with an interest in local history. Perhaps you have items to share, an interest in research, organizing, or public outreach; sharing your talents is much appreciated. There are costs associated with heating and maintaining the building and organizing the collection, perhaps you would like to contribute financially. To become a member, just fill out a short form and send in your dues. $10 per individual, $15 for a family and $50 for a business. Membership doesn't mean that you need to do anything (you are welcome to do so, of course), but your financial support is so important.

The Woodville Historical Society is working to restore this miniature train which was used to promote Russell Lund's poultry operation in the late 1950s and 1960s. If you can provide more information about the train or would like to contribute to the efforts to restore it, please contact the Historical Society. Hopefully, it will make its return appearance in this year's Syttende Mai Parade.

Please be patient, nature has its own mind...everything that can be done, is. From the County Highway Commissioner,

Good Afternoon:

I wanted to send out an update on the current flooding situation throughout St. Croix County. With the amount of rainfall and rapid melt of significant amounts of snow we are experiencing significant flooding, and water over the road in just about every section of the County. We have a number of highways with water flowing across from either frozen waterways, frozen culverts, obstructed flow paths, and simply too much water. We are doing are best to respond to each and every call as well as put signage warning drivers of dangers ahead. At this point we are out of advisory signs and will be placing barricades on the shoulders of the highway where we are having water concerns/issues.

This is a widespread issue, and we have all operators and resources working diligently to relieve some of these issues. Please be cautious and drive slowly, the fog is also making dangerous conditions for our employees as visibility is significantly impacted throughout the County.

Any questions or concerns please let me know, and we are doing our best to counter the water issues where we are able to.

I am writing a railroad book to be called 'The Spring Valley Line.' It is about the railroad that ran north to Emerald and south to Brookville, Wildwood, Spring Valley, Elmwood, Comfort, and Weston. I am looking for additional information and pictures. The Woodville Historical Society and the Woodville Public Library have graciously supplied me with many images. THANKS MUCH. I am looking for anything more that people may have. A few things I could use: 1. A short history of Woodville 2. Information about Clark's Siding and the Fleming mill between Woodville and Emerald 3. A little more history of Emerald 4. A plat map of the track between Woodville and Emerald showing Clark's Siding and Fleming Siding 5. Pictures of Comfort Thanks!!
